Gosh, that's almost as creative as when Massachusettes elected officials decided to find a way to change the law in order to fill Kennedy's position...or maybe when they changed that law before that.

Wisconsin voters got what they voted for - it's not like it was a big secret that they were going to try to balance the budget.

Wasn't Walker just trying to argue that collective bargaining is a financial matter and that the whole bill needed to pass?
The problem for unions lies in the wording of the phrase. "Collective" scares the crap out of conks. Should have called it "freedom bargaining" or something.

Actually, I think the word "union" scares a lot of folks given the condition the US auto and steel industries are in. That's a whole other thread.

You and everyone else had money taken from you by the Wisconsin legislature? How'd they swing that?

In the long run, wage deflation hurts us all.

A-fokking-men. Unions lost this when teachers started walking off the jobs in protest. The WI public may have forced Repubs to compromise had the unions offered one thing -- ability to keep their collective bargaining rights with agreement that public sector unions cannot strike. In the end, public employees are just that...employees of the people. When people have to take time off from work to care for kids becase teachers are throwing a temper tantrum, then tough sh!t for the teachers when thay lose the ability to not only strike, but collectively bargain their salaries.

Man, I'd like to know where I can go to work and get a free Cadillac. That is fucking awesome. Do you get one like every year, every five years, or is it just one and then you have to buy your own car again after that?

Sorry 93, time for you bloodsuckers to shoulder some of the burden. It's also time for you to start producing and actually have to worry about your job performance and not be protected with insane collective bargaining agreements.

Let's see. I'm non-union. I pay a fair chunk for my health insurance. I pay state and federal taxes. My pay has been frozen for the next two years. I already make less than my counterparts in private industry. I do produce, and a portion of my pay is directly tied to my job performance.
I'm not complaining. I'm thankful to have a job. I just don't see where I'm living in some alternate fat-cat reality as many here would insinuate. Maybe you should talk to the lawyers here about that.

Yes, but don't you get paid more than your peers in Delaware simply due to the fact that you work near Washington? It's that whackiness, multiplied by zillions of other examples, that gnaws at taxpayer savings.

Then apparently you don't have a Cadillac benefits plan, so what are you bitching about?
