Unlike the people of Louisiana the Japs are going through a REAL natural disaster and now a nuclear threat.
Yet none of them are running around looting, raping and murdering their peers..............wonder why?
Cue the excuses:
Its socio economic......
The government made them do it............
Blah Blah Blah.................

In New Orleans, people were evacuated before the storm and the city flooded but didn't get wiped out. Also, a lot of items and foods survived. What the hell is there to loot in Japan? The tsunamis got them by surprise and everything was quickly destroyed, including thousands of people (and potential looters). And if you survived, you're probably not gonna swim through water full of debris so you can steal food or electronics that are soaked in water.

Yeah, except that pic doesn't have wood, mud, cars, light poles, airplanes, concrete, glass, beds, boats, tangled metal, wires, and dead animals so that you can't even see the water.
But seriously, I really do think people in Japan would loot if there was something left...but there isn't. With Katrina, any product or food item left on shelves above water level would've been good and stealable. In this disaster, the same stuff would've been swept away and completely destroyed. And with this disaster, people are being rescued and sent to shelters where they're provided with care. And if you're not one of those people, you're probably dead or in no position to steal anything.

You are absolutely dead ass wrong.
Japanese are not going to loot anything because they have too much pride in their country and have morality. The only thing they might go after is food, not guns, vcrs and jewelry.

the national sense of shame at being associated with such a behavior would be unthinkable to most Japanese...
of course - the Japanese also have a social services network that puts ours to shame.

TTBF hits it out of the park.
Shame
Its what very few in the USA have anymore.
In fact, reality TV stars get paid to have no shame so its got to be cool right?

I disagree. I'm as sure as govt math that whitey'd be looting the shit outta the local super kmart too! After all, when the water recedes you dont want to be the only schmoe in the trailor park without a free 52" and a bluray.

Whether people want to admit it or not, you're just dealing with two starkly different cultures.
It really stuck me watching the one clip of the earthquake from inside a Japanese supermarket.
The two Japanese women in the video not only don't run out, but they try to stand and hold up food from falling off the shelfs. That is awesome.
By contrast, the first instinct of employees at a US inner city supermarket would be for people to step over each other to see how fast they could get out of the store. There'd be lots of "get tf outta my ways" and "oh lawdy, lawdys" and then when it was over you'd see the neighborhood loading up shopping carts with LCD TVs. Food wouldn't even be a thought.
How you do-in?

Well, while I appreciate your love of the Japanese people, you're dead wrong here. While there are many, MANY places where the tsunami did NOT affect, but that have destroyed buildings, no power, roads damaged, etc, there are just as many places where there's plenty of stuff "left". And there have been multiple reports of people out on the streets, walking from shop to shop, looking for one that's open so they can BUY food, but all the shops are closed....they don't throw a brick through the window and steal what's inside....they just move on in an orderly fashion, looking for a store that's open. TTBF hit it on the head with his explanation.
