Cali next to go?

Post by grizzaholic »

First Chili, then New Zealand, now Japan......if the clock-wise motion continues either Alaska or the West Coast of America is next.

Yup. These have all been subduction megathrust faults. Two areas that fit that criteria are Alaska and the Pacific NW. Alaska is probably good, since the subduction zone hasn't had time to build up stress since the 9.2 quake in 1964. The Pacific NW, however, hasn't had a subduction quake since 1700.

Then after the Seattle quake happens it will trigger Yellowstone to go up and then we won't have to worry about the Chinese invading. It will be a win-win.

Or...the Seattle quake will trigger some land-mass to fall into the Pacific and send another tsunami mega-wave headed toward Asia and really put a hurting on those folks.

bigger concern for the NW... that the shift will cause a volcanic movement in Rainier... it happened in japan - though it's been little reported on given everything else - but all this activity caused a volcano to erupt.

I salute the entire state of Delaware for drowning to keep the populated parts of Maryland safe and dry.
The entire eastern shore washing away is like a dream scenario. Calvert to Harford county shore line become one gigantic beach town!

Meh... we had a 7 point something or other around 2000 and had to rebuild the airport runways and a few building got funky structural problems but whatever

We have 4.5's every week (check the records on that I'm not kidding)

Wrong. At 478feet, Catonsville is the highest point in Baltimore County until you go up into the extreme NW parts of the county.
If I go across the street and up the hill, I can see the Key Bridge, which is a full 18-20 miles away. I'll survive the tsumani, now riding out the looting and chaos afterwards is a whole other story. :?

Yeah it's no big thing...
If Seattle has a 8 point earthquake - sh!t will fall down - things will break - people will die...
and then you rebuild and start over

That would be the end of the world, and it'll start with the Yellowstone caldera blowing its top. Take that to Vegas. :?
