Yup. These have all been subduction megathrust faults. Two areas that fit that criteria are Alaska and the Pacific NW. Alaska is probably good, since the subduction zone hasn't had time to build up stress since the 9.2 quake in 1964. The Pacific NW, however, hasn't had a subduction quake since 1700.93henfan wrote:Seattle. Hope my vendors get their shipments out before then....running a little low on raw materials....grizzaholic wrote:Or...the Seattle quake will trigger some land-mass to fall into the Pacific and send another tsunami mega-wave headed toward Asia and really put a hurting on those folks.

Hey, GATW, why not make it the bottom of the Grand Canyon? On a DONKey?Grizalltheway wrote:I, for one, plan on being in Yellowstone on 12/21/12.

I salute the entire state of Delaware for drowning to keep the populated parts of Maryland safe and dry.93henfan wrote:The La Palma collapse Atlantic megatsunami scenario. AlphaGriz's dream: http://www.geo.arizona.edu/~andyf/LaPal ... _small.mov
You'll be dead too, homeslice. The Chesapeake will be pushed up like Miley Cyrus' rack.andy7171 wrote:I salute the entire state of Delaware for drowning to keep the populated parts of Maryland safe and dry.93henfan wrote:The La Palma collapse Atlantic megatsunami scenario. The entire eastern shore washing away is like a dream scenario. Calvert to Harford county shore line become one gigantic beach town!
Meh... we had a 7 point something or other around 2000 and had to rebuild the airport runways and a few building got funky structural problems but whateverdbackjon wrote:Yup. We have 4.5's every week (check the records on that I'm not kidding)
I hope you speak West Virginianian, and also that you don't have a pretty mouth.andy7171 wrote:Wrong. At 478feet, Catonsville is the highest point in Baltimore County until you go up into the extreme NW parts of the county.![]()
If I go across the street and up the hill, I can see the Key Bridge, which is a full 18-20 miles away. I'll survive the tsumani, now riding out the looting and chaos afterwards is a whole other story.

That would be the end of the world, and it'll start with the Yellowstone caldera blowing its top. Take that to Vegas.BDKJMU wrote:Whats going on on 12/21/12?Grizalltheway wrote:I, for one, plan on being in Yellowstone on 12/21/12.
