It'd be really nice to use the money spent on these tomahawk missiles so far to build one or two state of the art schools that'll be used over and over to graduate bright students. And here's an ever crazier thought...when these students enter the work force, the return on the investment will be much higher than using the money to blow shit up. But I guess long-term investing has never been a strong suit of our government...

Truth. But military industrial complex > education industrial complex.

There are a few far left Congresspeople who have at least been consistent on all of this and are calling for Obama's head.

I'll give them an A for consistency. It almost smells like integrity.

How the holy hell did we get sucked into this thing anyways? Unless we were worried about Iran or Al Qaeda taking over the entire middle East, all we had to do was sit back and let the whole region implode, and then back the winner so as to not disturb the flow of oil. Now yet again we're in a war with no clear exit strategy...

Well, in his defense, in this case it is real easy to disengage - we just stop bombing the place or flying over it. But yes, it would be nice to have an actual address or something on what we're doing, why we're doing it, and what the plan is. Of course, I'd like the hear that on both Afghanistan and Iraq since we're long overdue for an update on those fronts as well, but I'm not holding my breath. I don't mind taking action, I'd just like there to be some transparency in this.

We could easily disengage from Afghanistan too, no? Just pack up and ship out. The reason why we don't is because we haven't met our clearly defined goals (they are clearly defined, aren't they?). So what are our goals for Libya?

I only meant that it's easier to stop firing missiles and flying over the country versus packing up men, gear, and equipment and then flying them halfway across the world. It would take weeks, and likely months, to leave Afghanistan. It just takes a decision and an instant to "leave" Libya. But I agree, what are the goals these days? I haven't heard a real goal in months regarding these forays.
