Seriously, it seems to me that there should be more gay Republicans, considering that many GOP voters are economic conservatives and social libertarians.

The problem with being a gay Republican is that s/he will come across in MSM in the same fashion as a Black Republican or a female Republican: automatically stereotyped as a nutjob wacko.
There may or may not be any truth to that in the individual case, but that's how MSM will paint it.
