Senior U.S. defense official jailed for leaking secrets

Post by YoUDeeMan »

A senior U.S. defense official is to be jailed for revealing classified information.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, furious at the leak, was heard to say, "this is no game, people's lives are at stake".

"Libyan state television showed blackened and mangled bodies that it said were victims of airstrikes in Tripoli. Rebels have accused Gadhafi's forces of taking bodies from the morgue and pretending they were civilian casualties.

A U.S. intelligence report on Monday, the day after coalition missiles attacked Gadhafi's Bab al-Aziziya compound in the capital, said that a senior Gadhafi aide was told to take bodies from a morgue and place them at the scene of the bomb damage, to be displayed for visiting journalists. A senior U.S. defense official revealed the contents of the intelligence report on condition of anonymity because it was classified secret."

The U.S. official, yet to be publicly indentified, is to be put in a cell next to Bradley Manning.

Phil Griffin, msnbc's president, is said to be on the run as several US Congressmen have declared that Mr. Griffin should be executed for publishing the leaked information. The US Justice Department has issued a warrant for his arrest.

The State department is looking freeze msnbc's assets.

More on this important story as it develops.

Not sure why the US would hide this tidbit...

No doubt. If this is the type of leak that you think needs to be prosecuted, then you have tens of thousands of cases to work on.

Hard to tell in some cases. Many times a piece of information will be classified only because revealing it will compromise a source. Human intelligence assets have to be protected, because if they are not they go away.

True, ttbf, true...

But I don't think that the unnamed U.S. official "is to be put in a cell next to Bradley Manning," or that "Phil Griffin, msnbc's president, is said to be on the run as several US Congressmen have declared that Mr. Griffin should be executed for publishing the leaked information," or that "the State department is looking to freeze msnbc's assets...."

Clever and entertaining sleight of hand, cluck! I looked for the reference to the "Onion," but could not find it. Nor could I find the quotes in the last half of your post.  Apparently only kalm recognized the sarcasm.

My wife says some of my jokes stink, so maybe there was a little onion in there.

But, CID1990 is correct...if the source was not made up by our guys...the Iraqi guy who leaked the info could soon be dead. Of course, this might be intentional...we are looking to turn some of Q-boy's lads against him so who cares if a source or two is compromised?

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

And of course, Admiral Heuber will be facing a court martial for his public goof revealing that we are communicating with the rebels. He has since said that he had "misspoken".

We, the people, weren't supposed to know that...it's a diplomacy thing...we're too stupid to understand. :ohno:

Shut up and move along....look, there's the Easter Bunny!
