This is the journalist who called Scott Walker posing as David Koch. Check out the image at the start of his announcement video. :thumb:
It turns out that Murphy, who is editor of the Buffalo Beast, lives in the New York district formerly represented by Chris Lee, the Republican who recently resigned after it emerged he was posing as a lobbyist and cruising Craigslist for mistresses.

Murphy is now running as a Green in the special election scheduled for May 24. In an homage to Lee, Murphy's campaign slogan is "Laid back dude seeks votes, maybe more."

I am pro-Craigslist transsexuals. Unlike your last Congressman, however, I am not a terrible hypocrite. And unlike my Republican opponent, I am not a discriminating jerk.

Here's Murphy explaining his qualifications:

Well, I’m an art school dropout who’s done some drifting both geographically and career-wise. I’ve worked as a landscaper, cashier, shopping cart pusher, butcher’s assistant, janitor, cow-milker, milkshake engineer, building manager, drywall installer, plumber, carpenter, painter, illustrator, door-to-door salesman, dish washer, paperboy, paperman, and some other illustrious gigs.

The narrative is bound to be that I’m not qualified to serve in Congress. Bullshit. I’m a blue-collar guy from Buffalo. I have commonsense and authenticity on my side. I’m a real guy who won’t sell you out for a quick buck. And I’ll fight like a cornered wolverine to make the voice of the people heard.

get him the right publicity and a pissed off electorate - and he could earn a few votes...

it's clever... in a low turnout election, where the gop and dems will spend heavily going negative (which does work) a guy with a viral, insurgent campaign can with - if he has enough money to cut just ONE really good ad that runs maybe 5 times (should run about 100k to do that) and make a couple good mailers (should run 18-20k/piece)

if he can raise 250k... he can win with this strategy.

At the point where Truman was a haberdasher, their qualifications wer pretty much the same.
