Well, apparently they have enough $ to go around stealing kids basketball goals.

i'm confused - why would they care if there was a hoop up in a cul-de-sac?

even here in basketball indifferent minnesota lots of cul-de-sacs have them (more of them become street hockey rinks in the winter - the goals just get set in the snowbanks when not in use)

when i was growing up, we had problems with high school kids playing mailbox baseball - and running over our mailbox post (we lived the redneck exurbus back then)

so after the third post was run over - my old man had had enough...

went out and picked up a piece of T-beam about a half inch thick and about a foot in diameter and sunk two feet in to the ground - with three feet or more above... and my grandfather - a journeyman welder - mounted a home-made mailbox on it. sucker wouldnt budge...

two weeks after installing it - about 2 am BOOM! i look out my window, and there is a late 70's AMC Pacer front end wrapped around that T-beam which was bent maybe 30 degrees, but not broken... my dad walked out to the top step and shouted "i called an ambulance, hope you boys weren't drinking..."

we bent the beam back in to place (still tilted 15 degrees or so) and nobody ever f'd with again.

if i were these people - i'd sink a deep-ass hole fill it with concrete and make that pole a real bitch to take out next time.

i was like 6 - but one of the guys was kind of a wayne campbell stereotype, i remember that - long black hair, ball cap, ripped jeans... looked like a reject from a RATT concert...
