Minnesota Conks are trying to push through the legislature a bill that would require the presentation of a photo ID at polling places, claiming that it will restore honesty to the voting system. Progressives say it is an attack on minorities and the disabled and that there is no data indicating there is an issue with voter fraud in Minnesota. The latter is true, there is no data that shows there is a problem and that Minnesota elections are the most fraud-free in the nation. Conks are just being their racist selves, uncomfortable with a burgeoning Hispanic population.
I agree with the Progressives.
Discuss.
"ID? We don't need no stinking ID!"

You know, Grizzaholly, I listened to this story on NPR this morning and, for you hardcore Conk fvcks and anti-NPR funding cocksuckers out there, they provided a very balanced story. I can apprecitate both sides of the issue and, as it was presented, the Conks, in my mind, might have the most credible view on this.

NPR kicks ass. Conks just hate fact that is actually is fair and balanced, unlike Rupert Murdoch's mouthpiece.

From the state that allowed Al Franken to cheat his way into the Senate
On Friday, October 29th, 2010, a member of the Minnesota Freedom Council witnessed apparent voter fraud occurring at the Crow Wing County Courthouse in Brainerd, Minnesota. Upwards of 100 residents from a local group home for mentally disadvantaged individuals were brought into the County Courthouse to cast absentee ballots.
The witness reported that supervisors were telling voters to cast a straight Democrat ticket. There was even a report of a voter prematurely leaving the voting both and a supervisor casting the ballot for the voter.

New White House Counsel tried to block ACORN investigation
The Examiner ^ | 11/13/2009 | Kevin Hall
Bauer worked for Obama on the 2008 campaign. During that time, he sent a letter to then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey arguing that ACORN should not be investigated for voter fraud. ACORN has admitted to more than 400,000 fraudulent voter registrations in 2008.

In all sincerity and all seriousness:
Why would providing a state issued ID for any State function be a problem..?
The Liberal who argues against this lose some credibility in my view
Kind of like the republican who says they're WAY OVER TAXED compared to the poor in this country

because it's about voter intimidation.
the MNGOP has been railing about "voter fraud" for decades, yet has never proven anything of substance to back it up.
we have high voter turnout in this state because we make it easy to register and vote... things that should be encouraged. MNGOP's desire is to depress voter turnout, and to intimidate voters who are not English speakers.
we found this in the last election - as tea party ass-clowns who have no clue about the actual laws signed up to be election judges in minority/immigrant precincts and were screaming about needing picture ID... they had to be set straight in over a dozen separate instances. we heard of no such challenges in white, conservative suburbs.
thing is cap - the ID bill isn't even about conk fever-dream fantasies about legions of illegal immigrants voting (which... seriously?) - it's a ploy so they can attack their opponents. it works for them on a piece of mail to say "Senator So-and-So wants to let illegal immigrants vote..." it's complete bullshit, but it's been known to work.

Intimidation, my ass. When was the last time you felt intimidated presenting a picture ID for buying liquor, tobacco, gaining entrance to your place of employment, etc.?

Oh BS, if you're intimidated by having to whip out an ID then you have some serious issues and shouldn't be voting in the 1st place.
As far as non English speakers voting, for immigrants to be naturalized they are required to show a "proficiency in the English language" so that shouldn't be an issue for them.
And if someone is born in the US and they can't speak English by 18, then fuck em.
I know you wish donks to maintain there grip on the deceased and illegal vote, but your protests against something as trivial as having to show a picture ID, which most of us have to do all the time for all kinds of reasons, is pathetic.

I'm a straight white Christian male born in the United States jack - i don't ever feel intimidated...
however - having walked in to polling stations in immigrant communities and dealing with an hysterical conk bitch screaming at Hmong and Somali families that they all needed to "prove they are Americans" to her so they could vote - and threatening to "call the cops" - freaked out a group of people who came here from places in the world where "show me your papers" was often the last sentence people heard.

actually - you don't have to speak english to vote.
you have to be an American citizen over the age of 18, and not a convicted felon. that is all.

You have to be able to speak English in order to be naturalized.
Those born in the US over 18 who don't speak it is an extremely small portion of the population.
Someone coming in to vote who doesn't speak English = red flag.

You're a bit of a drama queen, aren't you?
People who can't prove that they are entitled to vote shouldn't be allowed to vote. I don't know what's so difficult to understand about that?

if you're registered to vote, you've already proved it. given the penalties for voter fraud, and the minimal benefit given that risk who the fuck would risk it? individual voter fraud is a massive waste of time and far too risky to be engaged in (and guess what? it really isn't a widespread problem, contrary to popular belief)

How exactly would you know how widespread it is if there is no way to prevent it or detect it. Oh, I forgot. You're a Dem politico. Of course you know all about voter fraud. Al Franken does too.
