First Four Loko, Now Colt 45 Blast

Seventeen state attorneys general are urging Pabst Brewing Co. to stop marketing to young drinkers and halt production of a new malt beverage promoted by rapper Snoop Dogg.
In a letter sent to the Pabst Brewing Co., Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler says "Blast" by Colt 45 is a 'binge-in-a-can" that targets youth. Gansler was joined by attorneys general from Arizona, California, Connecticut, Guam, Idaho, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, and Washington.
San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera also joined the petition, according to a written statement.
The makers of the new fruity blend came under fire after advocacy groups and politicians raised questions about its marketing campaign.
The drink, in a colorful 23.5-ounce can that resembles soda pop but has an alcohol content of 12%, more potent than a typical can of beer...

Am I the only one that thinks banning an alcoholic beverage is really stupid? Why ban this stuff and still sell grain alcohol in the same stores?
Hell, I enjoy the occasional 18% ABV beer. Will they be banning Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA next?

It's a good thing bourbons come with boring labels and taste like shit to the uninitiated. I'd buy up all the firefly you can find, something tells me it's about to become contraband.

Not that I agree with banning anything, but I don't think most 16 year old sluts have the chops for IPAs.

i am wondering how exactly this is different than Mike's Hard or Shminoff Ice... neither of which is consumed by anyone over 24 - and whose primary audience is 16 year old girls...
the use of a stimulant in the drink presents potential problems insofar as increasing consumption (potentially) by counteracting the depressant effect of alcohol... but it's not like you still cant get your hands on a bottle of vodka and four pack of red bull and get the same result.
