Pelosi Erases Gingrich's Long-Standing Fairness Rules
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi’s proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.
Pelosi’s rule changes -- which may be voted on today -- will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America.”
In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America.

All the more reason Nancy Pelosi needs to be thrown out on her dumb ass.
If Obama had any balls he'd tell her to not do this.

Agreed. But if you get past the drama the message isn't good.

The Republicans ruled the House for 12 years under those regs. Did it help them control spending, stand up to the President, act in a bi-partisan manner?
HELL NO.
Was corruption rampant among Republicans in the House?
HELL YES.

Payback is a bitch, they might as well assume the position and bite the pillow for a while. I predict lots of yelping and squealing from Senator McConnell during the gettin' even phase. I don't think the donks have yet forgiven or forgotten the behavior of the other side while they had full control of the government. Being force fed neo-con ideology for six years by one of the few Presidents that the majority of voters voted against (along with such titans as Benjamin Harrison and Rutherford B Hayes, the Presidential version of the three Stooges) left a real bad taste in a lot of mouths. I'm sure Obama will try to keep things from getting out of hand but it's impossible to stop all of the burning and looting. Should be a kick in the ass to watch; hope they try Cheney for treason..

And if you think it'll be one iota different with a Dem congress/house/presidency, I've got some oceanfront property in AZ to sell you. The next 4 years will make the last 8 look like a friggin' garage sale.

That's great. So, now American politics has been reduced to "getting even".

Ooooooh, a
letter! I'll bet it's just
filled with
outrage and
stern admonition! I'll also bet that Pelosi gets as big a laugh out of it as the conks did during their era of one-party rule.

WHEW! I'm glad you're laughing! That means BHO has actually addressed this, provided proof (since he is the ONLY person who can request it, not some fake pics of docs circulating the web) of him being born in Hawai'i.
I must've missed his remarks. DBJ, can you provide me a link to this news conference?
Thanks a mint!

The Hawaii'an government has certified the Birth Cerificate. What else do you want?
Really, BigApp- buying into whacky things like this makes no sense.

No, they certified a Certificate of Live Birth, not a Birth Certificate. The State of Hawai'i regularly issues COB's to people not born there. There's only ONE person who can request a certified Birth Certificate from the State of Hawai'i if it exists, and he hasn't done so.
Essentially now, someone like Arnold Swarzennegger (sp.

) can run for President b/c all he has to do is ignore any and all requests to prove birthplace.
