Poor guys, they expected to take control of the State House today for the first time in 40 years holding a 50-49 majority.

Well apparently a republican member has been bullied by them in the past and had enough, so when approached by democrats he agreed to cast his vote along with the 49 democrats to elect him the new speaker.



He promises to give some republicans committee chairmanships, but many will be democrats.



The republicans cant win even when they think they won.

Careful....state senators usually don't pull this move just to thumb their nose at their own party power structure as there is very little long-term employment future in doing so.....this happened in NC about 10 years ago...when it was all said and done, the Republican turncoat was turning State's Witness against the Democrat Speaker he appointed....they are BOTH setting in federal prison as we speak.....follow the money...in situations like this, there's usually a payout....

Now if Naifeh had been reelected speaker, I'd beleive that.
