Get rid of all gun current laws, they don't seem to work. Start over with new laws that are aimed at keeping guns away from nuts and known violent criminals, and try to avoid loopholes in the new laws.

Easier said than done, but it's a start. Right now we can't even have a healthy debate on gun regulation.

Dude, you gotta be shittin' me. Most (not all) cops in this country are 5' 7" D students with Napoleon complexes who became police solely to exact some sort of revenge on the jocks who tormented them in high school.

I bought a gun this weekend. I did it right with all of the paperwork and it was a pain, even though I have a CCP and the process is "streamlined".

I guarantee you it would have been much easier to buy a gun outside of the system.

Gun laws penalize law abiding citizens and make it difficult for them, not for criminals and nut jobs.

About the police, they are just minutes away, when seconds count...

I can speak from experience here.

The fellas are correct about the police. You don't want to hang your jock on them being there for you in a pinch.

That said, I'm a little ambiguous about carrying. In fact, I don't do it. I rarely did it when i was a cop and off duty. I won't go into my reasoning in depth here, but it has a lot to do with situational awareness. When I am out and about, I avoid getting myself into situations where I would wish I had a gun. My head is always on a swivel and I always know where cover and avenues of escape are (drives my wife crazy).

Now, on the other hand, I am fully prepared to deal out a large amount of hurt whilst inside my own castle. At the end of the day, I just see that as the most appropriate exercise of my right to keep and bear arms.
