I think the Donks would agree. The republicans are going to be on defense against half-truths the whole campaign.

Mitt the Mormon who will take away your birth control and Ryan who will "abolish" social security.

Should've just gone with Rubio.

It doesn't matter who Romney picked. The only thing Obama has is half truths, he definitely can't run on his record.
Hell, we're not even half way through August and Obama has already pulled the murder card. Rubio is a great guy and his time is coming, but Ryan is a budgetary genius and can explain complicated economic related issues in layman's terms.

Best pick available, but will scare the fuck out of boomer voters. He's a one dimensional specialist, but will school biden in a debate.

He's a good person from a solid family. He's smarter than Romney and Biden, but not Obama. His pitch is well polished cuz he's been giving it, the exact same one, for 20 years.

Brawldy or any of the other whackstick conk groupies, if you want his autograph, let me know.

I'm OK with it. Rubio has some skeletons in his closet so you knew it wouldn't be him. Ryan should help keep Wisconsin competitive. Only bad thing I see is the ads coming about killing old people by taking away their Medicare and SS.

From what I've read about him he definitely will be the smart guy in the room.

Best possible pick for Obama - radical Randian who is even more out of touch with America that Romney.

Obama won't have to resort to half-truths, just telling the truth like he is on Rmoney will ensure an Obama landslide.

One-trick Randian pony. His budgets are pie-in-the-sky America destroyers.

It shows he isn't afraid to choose people who are smarter than him. If only he (Mutt) weren't such a total zero.

Romney is out of touch because he's rich and has a car elevator. Ryan is out of touch because of his blue collar mid western roots. Kinda nice to play it both ways, jon.

What in Obama's background makes him so in touch? Being born in Hawaii (allegedly :kisswink:  ), being raised as a muslin and schooled in a madrassa in Indonesia, or maybe his over rated Ivy League education? :suspicious:

Budgets????

You are aware that Obama hasn't had a budget since 2009, correct? Talk about pie-in-the-sky.... :suspicious:

Here's your proof that if a half-wit jabbers long enough he'll eventually say something that could be construed as having come from a mind capable of reason.

I think you're right in the sense that Ryan will make attack ads ads easier. Gives them a lot to demagogue. But the truth is on Ryan's side. He's right in what he says. He's one of the few politicians who's willing to level with the American people about the fact that his "government will take care of everything" crap can't go on forever. So the American people will have the opportunity to vote on whether or accept reality or not. I'm not optimistic about the American people doing that. The overwhelming majority of them are afflicted by the entitlement mentality. But at least they will have the chance to hear the truth and make a decision as to whether or not to proceed on that basis or continue to proceed on the basis of the nonsense the Democratic Party has been spoon feeding them for the past 80 years.

And good GRIEF Jon how can you POSSIBLY say Obama's telling the truth about Romney. I can understand you taking a pragmatic view and saying, "that's politics." But to say he's telling the truth is pretty bad. I know you know better than that.

Ryan is more than one dimensional, but conceding the point, I'd rather have a guy like Ryan who knows more about Federal budgetary policy than a wet fart like Biden whose only expertise is being a gaffe machine and making himself and the country look like imbeciles.

I would ask for an autograph, but being a Donk, you'd prolly give me a plagiarized copy. :kisswink:

Somehow I feel like this ticket is backwards, at least in terms of how excited people would be if Ryan was about 5-6 years older and running for Prez himself.

I agree with you that he's the best pick. He's one of the sharpest kids on the block, but I'm just not sure America thinks we need to be having the fiscal discussion he is going to bring. That is our downfall.

Social Security is already abolished; the Boomers just can't admit that their Congresses over the last 40 years have Sandusky'ed it into insolvency.

It is a drowning man with a death grip on the rest of us, pulling us down.

The American economy is already on the path to destruction, Jon. We cannot just keep printing money for every little thing we think would be nice to have.

As for Obama telling the truth about Romney.... either you are totally trolling or you aren't a real person; just some bot programmed to utter total nonsensical comments.

I like the pick!

His budget at least brings down the deficit. Tough choices have to be made. Will Obama make some tough choices and cut spending so our debt will not reach 20 trillion if he gets re-elected.

Breitbart has an article on the pros and cons of the pick. During part of the cons section, they mention the 3 votes that conservatives would quibble with the most:
"......Others cite Ryan’s votes for programs such as TARP, the GM auto bailout, and No Child Left Behind. These are anathema to those in the Tea Party, and the Tea Party rose up in revolt against politicians who enacted these programs. In defense of of his votes for these programs, Ryan has contended that with respect to the GM bailout, he was reflecting the desires of those he represents in his District. Ryan has also made the argument that at the time of the TARP vote, he was led to believe that had he not voted to save the financial system, the country would have spiraled into a depression, lead to a rapid expansion of big government programs and intrusions......"
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government ... s-and-Cons" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I get the arguement on TARP, even though I don't like it. I would like to hear exactly what he said about it, as Breitbart isn't quoting him here.

As far as the GM bailout, I don't agree with voting for something because a majority in your district support it. I think it should be whether or not you think its right. Again I would like to hear exactly what he said about it, as Breitbart isn't quoting him here.

Ryan went against most House conservatives in voting against the balanced budget amendment to the constitution, but this is what he said about it:

......"House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who argued this version wasn’t tough enough.

“I’m concerned that this version will lead to a much bigger government fueled by more taxes,” he told POLITICO. “Spending is the problem, yet this version of the [amendment] makes it more likely taxes will be raised, government will grow and economic freedom will be diminished.”
