Obama Celebrates While Haters Set Up Shop In West Wing

Within a few minutes of Obama taking the oath, the Podesta/Center for American Progress hate machine took control of the White House website, removed all documents praising or chronicling Bush, and replace it with vitriolic slogans about Bush's broken promises and pledges to roll back and reverse Bush policies.

Very poor judgement, and I hope not a glimpse of what Americans will come to expect during Obama's administration.

Obama's new White House Web site disses Bush

The site that just days ago had all kinds of praise for Bush now doesn't. In fact, it has a few instances of dissing the former president.

Earlier today I looked for Bush's 2001 inauguration speech, only to be greeted with this notice on the White House site:

The page you requested wasn't found at this location. The Obama Administration has created a brand new White House website, and it's possible that the page you were looking for has been moved. Please take a moment to explore our new site, learn more about President Obama and his team, and read about their plan to bring about the change America needs.

Here are the handful of criticisms that the new site aims at former President Bush, all found in the "issues" section:

-- "Reverse Tax Cuts for the Wealthy: Obama and Biden will protect tax cuts for poor and middle class families, but they will reverse most of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest taxpayers."

-- "A Commitment to Fiscal Responsibility: Barack Obama will pay for his $50 - $65 billion health care reform effort by rolling back the Bush tax cuts for Americans earning more than $250,000 per year and retaining the estate tax at its 2009 level."

-- "President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur."

Oh no! Obama has taken over the propaganda machine in the White House?

I challenge you to find, anywhere, any White House media release criticizing President Clinton.

You won't. That's unprofessional, and moreso, in light of Obama's theme of "checking the hate at the door", this type of bashing, from of all places, the White House website, is not appropriate. Had this been done by an incoming Republican Admin., the major networks would interupt all regular programming with around the clock coverage of this "travesty", reporting on "those" who are demanding a congressional investigation...

...say it ain't so.

BTW, new White House Media Director Macon Phillips is being accredited as the man who "pulled the trigger" today, making the switch, but the verbiage is std. Center for American Progress "Bash Bush" soundbite stock.

Hey man... aren't those statements what Obama campaigned on? If it's a dis, then he dissed Bush with those statements when he was campaigning in the primaries. People elected him because they were ready to have something different... there are the crazies out there though making ridiculous statements... on both sides... and if you can't see both of the different crazies, you probably are one (cough... cough.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!man).

Actually, that's a great catch, DJ. Someone else noticed that the White House "environment" page was copied from the Obama campaign website page cached back in October.

...should the campaign vitriol carry forward into the White House?

If, as Obama has suggested, everyone should leave the vitriol behind and act in good faith by making a committment to work together to "fix" America's problems, then, as a first step, why would the White House within minutes of his taking the oath of office post divisive criticism about the prior administration/President, unless their intent was to continue the vitriol and division?

Remember...every incoming administration always has a full plate of seemingly insurmountable problems. If the Obama administration is faced with an every increasing "wall" of conservative opposition, then regardless of the tangible effect that opposition has on implementing his administration's policies...the "opposition" just gives his administration an excuse for failure. Ergo, at this point in time, it benefits his administration to escalate the partisan division. I realize this sounds quite cynical, yet, that 7 minute website transition is a pretty convincing "tell".

Macon Phillips, White House Media Director, has released a proclamation declaring the White House will publicly publish all policies and executive orders, under the Obama administration's "transparency" policy.

Let's see how "transparent" the administration will be with White House policies and agendas...

I don't see it as a big issue, TMan. What did you expect them to do? Write a piece about what a great guy W was? This is a non-issue, and the fact that it has made the news only idicates further to me how desperate the Repubs have become. Grasping at straws. SMFH. I am so disappointed to see you guys in such disarray. We need a strong right to counter-balance this administration. You guys need to get your shit together, and quick.
