There have been many a debate on this...and many other...message boards about what is going on in Iraq and Afghansitan...and Gaza...and other places where modern warfare is running head-long into reality...

I've had access (not classified) to some pretty interesting stuff...and I've decided to start this thread to offer some of it up for discussion...

I'm planning to post articles occasionally (without comment) and let the discussion go where ever it goes...I will join in discussions, but thought this might be a way to get some interesting info out to you...

Anyway, hope you learn something new...I long ago learned that the day I stop learning is the day I die...and I have no intention of doing that anytime soon...

First article is on some modern gear...and how it is changing the thouoght patterns of military folks...

This is an interesting look at an Israeli unit, which is very similar to some U.S. units engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan...

Are you noticing a push towards planting troops, gear, etc.. into Afghanistan? Usually i'm OIF, but latley, OEF has taken precedence.

Current administration is committed to upping our force levels by, I believe, 30K, so that's not a surprise...

I know that, but i'm taling about movements within the past month. Yesterday, we found out that a bunch of stuff is not going to Iraq, instead it'll support OEF and future projects,etc... will support OEF more than OIF. It's almost across the board.

WHICH I, AND MOST OFFICERS, HAVE BEEN AGAINST FROM THE GENESIS.

Those of us who frequent message boards like this one are use to a pretty free flow of information...but in the military I grew up in, we didn't hear from the generals much, and definately did not have an open channel to the general on top...

No more...technology like message boards and blogs now offer a more open flow of information in more than one direction...

This is a pretty good story about a 2-star general who blogs with his troops...
