I don't think the concept is stupid at all. We have obviously come to a point in our history where people have very different beliefs about the role of government and how things should proceed. And there is a pretty solid geographic pattern to it. I really am sick of having my life largely controlled because of the influence of what I consider to be states populated with flakes like California and New York. And I'm sure people in California and New York wouldn't like having their lives largely controlled because of the influence on the national government of people they consider to be rednecks from states like Louisiana and Texas.
I would fully support breaking the country in some way. And I am serious. I am really tired of having to live under a national government largely controlled by people concentrated in metropolitan areas of the Northeast, Midwest, and West. We don't have the same ideas and values. Nothing wrong, in my opinion, with us living in different countries. Or at least go to more of a Confederation so that the States are sovereign.
And yes I think Louisiana would be fine without Federal money as long as we get to keep our oil and gas resources. Since we'd be our own country I think what's now in what we call "Federal Waters" would be ours too. We'd be fine.
