North Korea

What are the possible outcomes in the current situation with North Korea. KJU is 30 years old with a lot to prove. Backing down now will show him as weak. With the Chinese and Soviets backing off, it makes you wonder what the true intentions are. Is he hoping that all this posturing will lead to a suspension of sanctions? Is he hoping to keep the rhetoric going, long enough to have China just supply him with more oil and food? Will he do the unthinkable and fire rockets in to some disputed, uninhabited island and therefore receive a deadly response from the South Koreans? A fight with the United States will only bring him the destruction of North Korea. Maybe he can launch a few rockets into S. Korea and Japan before being completely annihilated.

What do you think?

I voted "nuke" but that's not really it. Just the closest. If we nuked we'd contaminate the atmosphere and possibly impact countries like Japan.

So I'd vote for saturation bombing. Also really a shame that we have this thing about chemical weapons. Never have understood that. We say it's OK for us to have nukes but we act like there's some moral imperative not to have chemical weapons.

Chemical weapons would come in handy in this case. We'd have to be careful about border areas but it wouldn't be like with nukes where you have to worry about fallout impacting people hundreds of miles away from the ones you want to wipe out.

If D-Rod couldn't smooth things over, I don't think anyone can, even Winnie the Pooh. All hope is lost. :coffee:

We will do the equivalent of serving chili with beans: we will buy them off with food shipments, show Kim Jung Un just enough respect to allow him to save face. Things will cam down for a few years until Lil' Kim decides to get uppity again.

Obama has already given up Pacific missile defense as a concession to China for its assistance with N. Korea.

I don't see an end option in the choices so I selected pee in butt. N Korea will fire off a missile & no one will pay much attention unless we shoot it down.

Hey kim, can you explain this?

PANAMA CITY — Panama's president said the country has seized a North Korean-flagged ship carrying what appeared to be ballistic missiles and other arms that had set sail from Cuba on its way to the Pacific.

Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli told RPC radio on Monday that the ship had been headed for North Korea. There were no immediate details on the quantity of arms aboard.

Martinelli said the undeclared military cargo appeared to include missiles and non-conventional arms and the ship was violating United Nations resolutions against arms trafficking.

North Korea fires more missiles than ever amid coronavirus outbreak
Two “short-range projectiles” were launched from the coastal Wonsan area, and flew 230 kilometers (143 miles) at a maximum altitude of 30 kilometers (19 miles), South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported.

They would be the eighth and ninth missiles launched in four rounds of tests this month as North Korean troops conduct ongoing military drills, usually personally overseen by leader Kim Jong Un.

Some Asian outlets reporting that he's in a vegetative state, others reporting he's dead.

Seems like something is definitely up though.
