I was pleased to read in another thread that the Obama administration is opposed to stepping on state laws, as the Bush Administration was prone to do...
“The president believes that federal resources should not be used to circumvent state laws, and as he continues to appoint senior leadership to fill out the ranks of the federal government, he expects them to review their policies with that in mind," White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said.
This from the thread on the DEA busting medical marijuana stores in California...
But, can we hope for the same view from the administration on two current Democratic pieces of legislation that propose to step all over state laws with jack-boot like proposals...
The two pieces of legislation are:
"The Freedom of Choice Act" would prohibit any federal, state, or local government from prohibiting abortion. It specifically points to local and state laws, making them illegal. Then candidate Obama said during the campaign he would sign this law into effect if passed.
"The Employee Free Choice Act" would remove state laws on union organizing, and remove the secret ballot from any union organizing effort, contrary to state laws.
I sure hope the Obama Administration will be consistant...do I have a snow-balls chance in hell of seeing that?????

The Constitution doesn't give the feds the right to do either...restrict or protect rights granted to the states...
And since union organizing and abortion aren't listed in the Constitution as federal responsibilities, does President Obama propose to be as bad as Bush in violating the Constitution...

Excellent points Col......both parties want the rights associated with their agendas protected and the other guy's prohibited..doesn't work that way (or shouldn't), yet both parties remain undeterred in this pursuit....what a shame....

More movement from both parties to sh!t on the states and turn this into one state. The Constitution is being ripped apart daily in Congress and it looks like this president will do the same. He will pick and choose what parts of the Constitution he will support, just like Bush. So much for change mindless sheep.

Awesome, so does that mean you support a monarchy? Obama (because you agree with him) gets to pick and choose what parts of the Constitution he will follow? Sounds a lot like Bush, I never knew you were a Bush supporter. D1B has come out of the closet.

I have great hopes with the leadership of Obama. Aside from the color difference, I strongly believe that there is hope with Obama.
