It is not illegal to follow a suspicious person. The neighborhood had many reports of break ins and all of those arrested were young black males (these police reports were ignored by the prosecution but put into evidence by the defense). It's not illegal to ignore a dispatch. It's not WISE but not illegal. However, we have one side of the story and that was that Trayvon attacked Martin. We do not know if Trayvon was provoked. We do not know if Trayvon was ambushed. We DO know that Martin had wounds on his knuckles and a gun shot. We DO know that George admits to shooting. There just isn't enough evidence to prove murder vice self defense.

However, our culture will not accept that. Our society is filled with armchair quarter backs. Facts be damned to them, a black kid is dead. They only see white and black, completely ignoring the fact that Zimmerman is Hispanic. A white guy does at the hands of a black kid, you won't hear about it. Reverse that, and it's racism. It's keeping blacks enslaved. I've said a dozen times, people in this country only believe in justice when it's on their terms.

Who is going to say it didn't happen like that? Trayvon, the thug wannabe with a record of disciplinary problems? You must convict when you have no doubt in your mind. This case was full of doubt from day one and the Prosecution never proved it.

When GZ called the non emergency dispatcher-who is not the police or any other law enforcement officer- told him, "We don't need you to do that."

GZ broke no laws in leaving his vehicle and walking in the common area of the town home community, whether following TM or not.

The medical examiner noted that there were no injuries on TM in the autopsy except for the gunshot wound. Meanwhile GZ had a closed nose fracture, two black eyes, swelling on the side of the head, and two lacerations on the back of head. Common sense would indicate TM jumped GZ and was whipping his ass. The only eyewitness who saw the scuffle indicated such.

Florida law states that self defense applies if a person has a reasonable fear of great injury or loss of life. It is that simple. There was zero evidence presented to indicate otherwise. That is why the SPD and The D.A. Wolfinger didn't bring charges. The lead detective even testified that he found GZ's story credible and he was a state witness.

There is no question this was a politically motivated exercise. There was no evidence ever presented to a grand jury, only a special prosecutor appointed by the governor charged GZ.

It is amusing to me to hear the cries of "thug" against Martin. Comparing the record of these two individuals, the word "thug" would certainly be applied to the more zaftig of the two.

I want to makes sure I have this straight in my mind... the alternate universe some Zimmerman detractors embrace:

In this wonderful utopia:

1. You have no right to follow suspicious persons.

2. Police dispatchers wield awesome power.

3. Attacking people when they follow you is standing YOUR ground.

4. When being followed, don't call the police. Instead, call your illiterate neighborhood poon.

5. Neighborhood watch is not necessary. Especially in neighborhoods currently being pillaged.

6. There is no Rule of Law.

I'm not sure I want to live in this alternate NBC world.

It's a travesty that Trayvon lost his life, and it would be a bigger travesty if the liberal lynch mob was the judge, jury and executioner of a human being who made a terrible mistake.
As opposed to Zimmerman, who was judge, jury and executioner of a boy walking home from the store.

got it.
Nice try. Trayvon decided that he was going to be the heavy-handed judge and jury as he attacked a person who was simply following him. Trayvon didn't call the police...he wanted no part of any legal justice...Trayvon wanted to take justice into his own fists. Zim did the right thing...he killed a punk that attacked him and tried to beat him down.

One less, "no cops" punk in the world...that's a good thing.

If this story got any attention, there would have been a horde of NBA players texting about the tragedy of a Coon getting burned....until they realized the Coon was white.

A 13-year-old boy who police say was doused with gasoline and lit on fire last week while walking home from school is recovering from first-degree burns to his face and head.

The boy was just two blocks from his home in Kansas City Tuesday when two teenagers began to follow him and then attacked him, his mother, Melissa Coon, said.

Police have described the suspects as black 16-year-olds, while the victim is white.

"We were told it's a hate crime," Coon told KTLA.

"They rushed him on the porch as he tried to get the door open," Coon told KMBC. "(One of them) poured the gasoline, then flicked the Bic, and said, 'This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy.'"

People need to learn that the first step in ANY situation is CALL THE POLICE FIRST! 911 tapes are admissible as evidence and are more reliable in courts than having a friend speak for you on the witness stand. If Trayvon had called 911 instead of "Precious", he would have a lot more credibility.

No way...if a black man calls the police, he has sold out and is a wimp.

Better dead than a wimp and sell out. Now, Trayvon is a hero. :suspicious:

Somebody explain this...
a) Same State
b) Same law

(CBS News) JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Florida woman who fired warning shots against her abusive husband has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Marissa Alexander of Jacksonville had said the state's "Stand Your Ground" law should apply to her because she was defending herself against her allegedly abusive husband when she fired warning shots inside her home

She walked out of the house after a verbal argument, went into her car and returned to the house, at no point calling 911 in-between, and then aimed her loaded gun in the direction of her husband AND two children before firing "warning" shots.
