It must be noted here that the presentation by Northwest Family Planning, as well as the entire sex education module has always been optional to students/parents.

This amounts to censorship and an outright assault on common sense. Getting knocked up and dropping out of school like Bristol Bay Palin Johnston and Levi Stinkflipper Johnston is good, knowledge about contraception bad!!

I get that sometimes school districts delve into the subject with kids that are borderline too young, but as soon as kids start hitting puberty (late middle school) they are going to have questions. Questions that they don't want to ask their parents.

Well, I'm not surprised you blamed it on Republicans/ conservatives and Christians (in fact many of them have a lot to blame--not all). However, I guess you made space for my viewpoints based on saying "christian fundamentalists." I have no problem with teaching safe sex (as I've said before, in the belt buckle of the Bible Belt I was taught safe sex in public school), I think we should be teaching safe sex.

I know it's a goal to blame Republicans, conservatives, and Christians for everything. But, at some point, it would be nice to see if you have any criticism of anything not Republican, conservative, or Christian...like the complete failure of the new Treasury Secretary. Or, is that the fault of Jesus lovers everywhere (I guess it could be considering your savior Obama is a Jesus lover).

As long as we stay in our trenches and point the finger at everyone else without even contemplating the idea that both sides have problems, we will stay on the current path and nothing will change. If you really desire change, you need to open up your mind and think critically of both sides and hold both accountable. (this is not directed solely at you, but it's a general statement) Until that happens, I hope these people enjoy the status quo, because that's what we will get.

Do adults realize if they tell kids NOT to do something, it just makes them want to do it all the MORE?

Telling kids not to have sex=making it forbidden, and therefore, much sought after. At least equip them to be smart about it.

If you read the article, the module is provided, but OPTIONAL. Many folks just do not know how to talk to their kids about these things, or the kids won't tolerate listening to them. The module helps those out immensely.

I know practicing Catholics who use the pill and some of my Catholic buddies have had vasectomies. This is one area of the church I disagree with. A married man and a married woman, united in love and a strong matrimonial bond, have EVERY RIGHT to decide when, where and how they want children. Nuff said.
