China exports continue to plunge

China's exports plunged by a massive 17.5 per cent in January, the biggest year-on-year decline in more than a decade and threatening more job losses in an already slowing economy.
The data released by China's customs agency on Wednesday showed a third consecutive month of declines after years of double digit increases.
January's decline against the previous year was much steeper than the 2.8 per cent contraction seen in December.
"The numbers are terrible. The environment is awful," Citigroup economist Ken Peng told the Associated Press.
"The pressures on employment will be huge."
China's imports also slowed dramatically in January, falling 43.1 per cent over a year earlier.

Thousands of factories have closed or laid off workers, and according to the government at least 20 million migrant workers have lost their jobs as a direct result of the slowdown.
The rising number of jobless is a particular worry for China's communist rulers who have tied their legitimacy to being able to deliver continued economic growth and raise millions rural poor out of poverty.
They fear that outbreaks of unrest could escalate and threaten their continued grip on power.

And it will be a bad one. Lots and lots of killing. I think if it happens it will be a war of no prisoners, everybody dies type of war. Both, or maybe more, sides will have huge losses.
On the bright side it will curb some of the current poup. problems that china currently has.

I wonder how accurate the numbers are, as China isn't exactly willing to admit problems.

They have trillions in reserves. They save money. They will be fine for a while, unlike us.

Know this all, even though we are the world's biggest debtor nation, the whole world economy still depends on us. Our economy is in the toilet, so is everybody else's, including and maybe even especially China.
Kind of a downward spiraling merry go round. Where it stops, nobody knows.

Yeah, those 800 million poor, rural farmers are going to band together with their pitchforks and take down the powers that be in Bejiing.

Spartacus did well with a few slaves and kitchen knives. I like the odds of 800 million.
