Rep. John Culberson, TX claims the "stimulus" bill must be urgently voted on today -- because Speaker Nancy Pelosi is leaving at 6:00 PM for an 8 day trip to Europe!
Culberson made the charge on Houston's KSEV radio.
Pelosi is hoping to lead a delegation to Europe; there's a meeting with the Pope and an award from an Italian legislative group.
Calls to Pelosi's spokesman went unreturned.
In the rushing, Democrats have now broken their promise to have the public see the $790 billion bill for 48 hours before any vote.
Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) predicted that none of his Senate colleagues would 'have the chance' to read the entire final version of the 1,071-page bill before it comes up for a final vote.

And, a little more than 14 hours since it was first made public, the House passes the bill on a partisan vote, and Pelosi's outta here...
The bill was passed 246-183 with no Republican help. It now goes to the Senate where a vote was possible late Friday to meet a deadline of passing the plan before a recess begins next week.

Jon, she did the same thing last August/September...during the first bank bailout crisis...Wall Street was melting down, and she made that infamous remark about Congress not being able to do anything to stop it...then hopped on a plane and came out to SF for some awards and to promote her new book...

As a politician, it is their duty to place our Country's and Citizen's interests above their own. And I realize that's polly-annish to expect that...but throwing our Country under the bus so she doesn't interrupt her social calendar is beyond excusable.
I make this pledge. If the Dems remove her as House Speaker before returning from recess...I'll register as a Democrat, and further, vote for only Democratic candidates in every general election til the day I die.
