More Conk Brilliance......

I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes, and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay check, I work on a rig site for a Fort McMurray construction project. At any time I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem. HOWEVER, what I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Understand - I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their butt, drink beer and smoke dope. Could you imagine how much money this country would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? If you agree, please pass this along, or simply delete if you don't. Hope you will pass it along though, because something has to change in this country.

It paints a wide stroke. Not all that use the system abuse it. You are always going to hear about the bad apples, but there's plenty of people who are responsible about it.

I hate email forwards. A bad way to spread misinformation.

As long as conks can distract you with the Reaganesqe myth of the welfare queen you will be blind to the fact that corporate america, the military and the wealthy are the true welfare whores of america.

Open your eyes.

Yeah. Not a dime spent on welfare, food stamps, etc., etc.   But I do agree with you to a point, D. Here's a perfect example:

Obama is going to give $2 BILLION in grants to communites to "come up with creative ways to help borrowers avoid foreclosure. How about you just slice up that $2 billion into FORTY THOUSAND $50,000 CHECKS???? Think THAT might help a few more borrowers?

I like it in theory, but the huge-reward-for-poor-management trough was never intended for the snouts of average citizens.

I'm reading a brilliant book right now, Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America, by Barbara Ehrenreich, a book about minimum wage workers and the challenges they face in the age of Conk welfare reform (remember your "any job is better than no job" sh*t, Z, and the 5000 jobs in the Phoenix newspaper? She went undercover to try it out - attempting to make a living at bullsh*t hotel room cleaning, Wal-Mart and waitressing jobs across the U.S. - needless to say it was impossible) and she tells of some government agency spending multiple millions of dollars to drug test several thousand workers and, in busting 5 of them in total, this governemnt agency thus spent $77,000 per person detected. Was it worth it?

And some of you assholes bitch about spending money protecting the fvcking snail darter in Lake Havasu.

:ugeek:
