Vladimir Putin was the first world leader to call President Bush after the 9-11 attack?

True

He basically said … anything you need I’m here for you

Why was Putin trying so hard at diplomacy with the USA?

And when and why did these good relations take a hard turn ?
Hypothetical…you can have Biden as your president or Putin. Who’s it gonna be.

September 2005, right after Hurricane Katrina relationship is still good. At least out in the open

2:59 P.M. EDT

PRESIDENT BUSH: Thank you all. Please be seated. I'm pleased to welcome my friend, Vladimir Putin, back to the White House. We just had a constructive meeting and a candid conversation. I told the President how much I enjoyed visiting Russia earlier this year, and how much I'm looking forward to going back to Russia for the G8.

Trump. But the move to Canada or Costa Rica would be tempting. Would probably stay though and lead the Cascadia Separatist Movement.

NY Times being used as a dumping ground.

First the article on how the CIA pretty much integrated itself into Ukrainian intelligence and personnel structure.

Now we find out Ukraine got money, spent it on contracts to build defenses behind Avdiivka, but were never built of any value. Some trenches here and there, but nothing like the Russians built in the same timeframe.

Good job NATO. Way to plan ahead.

The graft in Ukraine has further screwed their troops over.

Nah. America means different things to different people. I like the America that is competitive but kinder, community driven, more educated and innovative.

Being kind is admirable but not to the point of government management of the urban “lifestyle” that holds people back from reaching their potential and all for power and votes. In fact, it’s pretty cruel

“Ukraine’s pro-Western President Viktor Yushchenko, who came to office in January 2005 in the wake of Orange Revolution protests after beating his Kremlin-backed opponent, has made NATO membership a top priority for his former Soviet nation of 47 million.”

Sorry if this Russia recap is Capt Obvious reporting to all the enlightened ones on here but this looks like the big pivot point …. 19 years ago

No, he was asked by the Donbass for protection, but you keep with that narrative. It was either that, or Ukraine, which had massed at the border, was going to invade the Donbass and kill more of their brethren.

Russia and Russian supported units have been in Ukraine, and the Donbass, for at least as long as 2014, if not longer, but you keep with that narrative that they're just there for "protection". :coffee:

Even Putin in his 2.5 hour monologue with Tucker didn't claim that as the reason for the invasion.

I was curious about the "Ukraine, which had massed at the border, was going to invade the Donbas and kill more of their brethren" comment. Ukraine was massed at what border? Donbas is part of Ukraine so massing at the Donbas border would be like US troops massing at the Louisiana border. Would the US be "going to invade" Louisiana?

russia doesn't have carte blanche to invade countries where russian speakers are threatened.

Intel agencies learned some things about Putin, it’s not like anyone from the west has seen him up close like that since when?

Note how Vladimir had his right arm strapped to the chair. Probably didn’t want the world to see him trembling in fear as Tucker was asking questions… :coffee:
Cerebral Palsy?

Trump gives Dems best chance of dealing with Putin but ironically, Dems TDS won’t allow them to see it as TDS causes blindness and selfishness…. My hurt feelings over country

Tucker post Putin interview commented he thought Putin seemed nervous at the beginning of the interview, like an over prepared college student…. And then he went into his long Russian history speech

Very similar to the way the Brits described him from over 20 years ago

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/17 ... ir-spt/amp

“He would go into a long, very emotional, slightly angry monologue in order to cut off the stuff that he didn't want to answer.”

The following month Putin made the reverse trip, travelling to London to meet with Sir Tony. The visit also included an invitation to visit Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.

A joint press conference between the two leaders was set up, in which Putin launched into a "rambling rant" about Chechnya after a journalist asked a question about the war.
