In a deliberation over whether the state of Colorado should extend health care coverage to same-sex partners of state employees, Senator Scott Renfroe (R) quoted scripture and pointed to verses that he believes are about homosexuality in his effort to encourage his colleagues to vote against the bill. He also equated homosexuality with other sins such as murder and made other offensive comments that can be seen in the audio portion on you youtube below. It is unacceptable for an elected official to make these outrageous statements and get away with them in the name of religion, when government should be a separate entity from church politics.

The guy is a freakin' idiot and should be censured for making those remarks...
But...the final comment by the blogger is totally stupid too...
People have opinions formed by their experience, and you no more can ask someone with stupid opinions like this guy to "check them at the door" than you can ask someone who is gay to not bring their opinion into the debate...
Otherwise, we will have to perform litmus tests on folks opinions before they take office...and that smacks of "Big Brother"...
If you don't like someones opinions...don't elect them...if someone with a stupid opinion gets elected...that's our system...
But...the final comment by the blogger is totally stupid too...
Government already is seperate...people with opinions (some from religion) make up government...government should be a separate entity from church politics

Agree.....it sucks, but he can be voted out. If the constiuents believe the same as him, then you have an idea of where NOT to purchase goods & services, relocate businesses, take a vacation, etc....he's only one vote..Col Hogan wrote:The guy is a freakin' idiot and should be censured for making those remarks...

Re: Colorado State Senator: Gay Sin is equal to Murder
If one believes that both homosexuality and murder are sins, and if one believes that sin is an absolute, then in a strictly theological sense with those caveats he isn't entirely wrong. But then one would also have to realize that the seemingly trivial sins they commit daily without thinking anything about them are the same as murder, too. The white lies we tell every day? Spiritually, one might as well either have killed a man, or – according to some – blew him. But that's a matter for one's own subjective personal faith, and not the basis for a practical policy for all in our secular lives. Our system isn't based on one man's opinion of sin, it's based on laws, and as a practical matter our crimes and their punishments are relative, so to equate homosexuality with violent crime in a practical or legal sense is just plain stupid.
And in a totally unrelated item, St. Wronge probably jacked his cock when he read the senator's comments. Vigorously, no doubt, like a man gripped by fervor.
