“We don’t want to tell anybody how to live. That’s up to you. If you want to make the best of yourself, feel free. If you want to ruin your life, we’ll try to stop it, but it’s a waste,” he said. “We look over the country as it is today, we see so much waste, human potential that’s been destroyed by 50 years of a welfare state. By a failed war on poverty.”

Fcker...I didn't want Limbaugh's name in it because it will cause people to think it is garbage, even if they would normally agree with it.

I don't think his name needed to be said.

So you disagree? Why?

Because the NEOCON wing of the Republican Party that Limbaugh represents (not true conservatives, but folks who have hijacked the conservative name) do want to control how people live...have wasted billions on corporate welfare while fighting individual welfare...
Limbaugh is a wack-job...he's an entertainer for those who like shock-value type stuff...he does not represent true conservatives...
Until the radicals like Pelosi on the left and Limbaugh on the right are out of the spot light, we have rough times ahead...

Amen brother! As Col sez, Limpballs and the rest of the fox crowd are "Conservatives" in name only...but they practice no true
conservative values of live and let live.....they want to engineer social aspects just as much as dems want to engineer financial aspects....they both suck and need to be destroyed....

Same reasons as the gentlemen above me said, I do however disagree that the extremes need to go. I think they allow me to look at my ideals and say, ok, what those two believe in I'll stay away from. That and the quote also deals in absolutes. I disagree with most things that are speaking in absolutes, because a lot of the time they are exagerrated beyond logic. See how I said "most" and "a lot of the time", that leaves room for error. Ole rushy does not do that, everything is drastic and over the top. I highly doubt ALL of poverty reform and welfare have been a complete waste.

I'm not sure what the point is.
That the Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush, and Dumbass administrations didn't care about poverty in America?
Or that they were failures at war?
I guess we'll need a little more info.
One thing I
can tell you from experience is: You can't believe anything a junkie says.

Good point and my response was just as emotional as Rush's absolutes....my bad....I just get tired of the parties having to cater to the extremes and the media giving them such a forum......the vast majority of citizens don't believe in the extremes of EITHER party, so let's quit giving them so much due.....they are a regressive burden on our electoral process....

Too bad he didn't mention the failed war on drugs. The irony would have been delicious.

Wouldn't it? It's a good thing Rush and his ilk are so blameless for our current mess or they might seem hypocritical.....

I disagree. The dems ALSO want to engineer social aspects, they just disagree with the NeoCons on what form those social aspects should take. True conservatives want smaller (or even NO) government.

Most definitely dems want to do this as well....didn't mean to imply they didn't....that's why both parties suck....
