Sounds like this decision emanated from the campus clergy, spokesperson was Christy Lohr Sapp. The more I read, the more apparent it became the clergy live in an academic bubble...not cognizant of the absurd inappropriateness of this action.

I'll wager the clergy will vociferously defend their action...all the way to the unemployment office.

The basketball team is riding a 2 game losing streak with the 41 game home streak ending last night. Seems a bit extreme, but it can't hurt, I reckon.

What would be the problem with doing this? I assume the bells ring at a church or chapel on site just before a church service or a Mass, correct? Again, what's the problem with doing this?

Actually that I can agree with - as long as it doesn't single out a specific religion, banning bell sounding before a certain hour (and after a certain hour) is perfectly permissible and fine. Besides, I'm sure there's an app people can get for those early or late hours when bell ringing is stopped.
