Years of appeals and reliving of the tragedy by families in store.

This is one case where I was hoping for life. Martyrdom seekers want death, so don't give it to them.

The murder trial I was on in 1996 was for a guy who confessed to killing two other people before the jury I was on. He was already on death row, but we didn't know that at the time. He's been given the death penalty by three different juries and is still alive and kicking in a North Carolina prison.

I had a couple of his attorneys who were working on his appeal stop by about a year after the trial to ask a few questions. They asked if I had any doubts about his guilt and I told them the if he confessed, clearly he had no doubts and I didn't see anything that would make me decide anything differently.

Its not a confession. He didn't contest anything he was charged with and plead guilty.

They'd be appealing the jury's decision to sentence him to death rather than life in prison, not the conviction itself. I think.

Well that would be the only thing to appeal. But how? I AM NO LAWYER, but aren't appeals based on parsing and splitting hairs about things that are written in the testimony and the law itself?

I personally think they should be putting a bullet in him tomorrow. There really isn't much doubt at all that they have the right guy. He deserves to be culled from the heard. Send him to Utah, we just reinstated the firing squad.
