Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is set to join the already-crowded field of candidates for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

Perry, whose infamous “Oops” moment during the last GOP primary derailed what had been a promising start to his 2012 campaign, is expected to announce his latest bid Thursday morning at an event north of Dallas. (His campaign website unveiled a new “Perry for President” seal early Thursday.)

The longest-serving governor of Texas has revamped his strategy since his disastrous exit from the last race.

Not a fan of Perry, but he's probably the most qualified candidate who will run (in either party). :-|

I think he'll keep it interesting in the primaries unless he implodes like last time. :ohno:

I think you may be right but, unfortunately, he isn't going to be able to overcome that gaffe. My understanding is that he was on pain medication due to back surgery when that happened. He probably should not have tried to do something as grueling as running for President at the time.

You're probably right.

Bridges and debate gaffes. They kill Republicans. If you're a democrat you can get ambassadors killed and cavort with known terrorists, no problem. The double standard among party faithful is fucking ludicrous.

Perry while he has no shot of winning will be good for some comic relief.
