When you consider that over 90% of Full Electric Vehicles are "second cars" that's actually a big numberBDKJMU wrote:WA has over 7 million registered vehicles, so 27k EV is less than 1/2 of 1%.Chizzang wrote:There are about 27,000 registered full electric vehicles in the state of Washington as of (right now)

I’m waiting for Tesla to come out with an electric triplex mower. (JD already has hybrids).Chizzang wrote:There are about 27,000 registered full electric vehicles in the state of Washington as of (right now)

Last year when my 2007 Troy Bilt push mower went tits up I got an EGO push mower. Also replaced my old string trimmer with Ryobi battery powered string trimmer & also got a Ryobi battery powered edger. Have a very small yard. Course if I had an acre or more would have gotten gas..

How do you like the push mower? See any difference versus a gas one?BDKJMU wrote:Last year when my 2007 Troy Bilt push mower went tits up I got an EGO push mower. Great so far.GannonFan wrote:How do you like the push mower? See any difference versus a gas one?BDKJMU wrote:Last year when my 2007 Troy Bilt push mower went tits up I got an EGO push mower. The handle is adjustable- it has to be extended all the way to start, but you can adjust the angle
I have the non self propelled LP2100 model with 21 inch blade that got last year for $449 from Home Depot. (Now its LP2101 for $449, no major differences). Its not the self propelled model, but its lighter (about 60 lbs) than any gas push mower I've used.
Single lever to easily make height adjustments for between 1 to 3.5 inches. Lot easier adjusting than each wheel on the gas push mower to adjust the cut height.
Good power. Maybe not what the Troy Bilt with a Briggs & Stratton motor had, but never bogged down. That includes the 1st cut I did with it in May or June after it had been close to 3 weeks.
5 AH battery, 40 min charge time, charge is suppose to be good for 45 min run time. EGO recommends for 1/4 to 1/2 acre and under. I'm only cutting with the pushmower about 2k sq feet/.05 acre (row/townhome) for myself and a neighbor, Have to cut around some stuff, have steep little hill, maybe 15 min on the push mower. Battery indicator always stayed in the green for me, even when on a few occasions I cut at dusk or in the dark using the headlights. Got all kinds of looks & comments on that.
They have a 21" self propelled version (LM2102 SP) (now $599 Home Depot) with a 7.5 AH motor, claims up to 60 min run time, but still the 1/4-1/2 acre recommendation. I don't see the need for it unless you're elderly, a petite female or kid, or cutting up a big hill.
You have to register the product to get them to mail you side discharge chute (annoying). I still need to do that before the spring. Without the side chute you need to use the bag, otherwise will clump up underneath. Even the little amount I was cutting the bag would fill up 2+ times. If you don't empty, will clump underneath.
It easily folds up & unfolds:
Course you don't have to deal with during the winter issues with a gas mower of either draining the gas, or adding a fuel additive & running it occasionally due the corrosive 10% ethanol, or buying non ethanol gas.

There are prototypes.
Then there are niche models.
Then there is mass production.
Tesla passed the first two tests. Third TBD:

Tesla passed the first two tests. Third TBD:
https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/14/tesla-m ... oyees.htmlLuxury automaker Tesla is manufacturing a surprisingly high ratio of flawed parts and vehicles, according to several current and former employees...
One current Tesla engineer estimated that 40 percent of the parts made or received at its Fremont factory require rework. The need for reviews of parts coming off the line, and rework, has contributed to Model 3 delays, the engineer said.
Another current employee from Tesla's Fremont factory said the company's defect rate is so high that it's hard to hit production targets. Inability to hit the numbers is in turn hurting employee morale...
Lean manufacturing specialist Matt Girvan, founder of MAG Consulting, said: "Even during what is considered 'launch' mode, if a company is selling its cars to customers, it should not be experiencing large amounts of rework. This speaks to an internal quality issue that is on a magnitude that is not normal for most car manufacturers."

Not disagreeing with you, just wondering why you think so? As far as I can tell researching the thing, they did their homework on building it. John Deere is also in development of one, which is expected to come out here in the next couple of years.93henfan wrote:That’s not getting past American lawyers.Winterborn wrote:I am all for getting one of these lawn mowers. But if you mean that American lawyers are going to have a field day with these things, as they start chopping up obese children who are too slow to get out of the away and sleeping sunbathers with their headphones on, then I would 100% agree with you.

Tesla production is still less than 50% projected (and necessary) to meet promised orders for the Model 3. They are cash-strapped (badly) and have two rounds of bonds coming due.
I’m not rooting against them by any means, but I’ll be watching curiously as Musk attempts to navigate through the latest fiscal and quality difficulties.
