Tesla will have a rough go of it no doubt and they're already bankrupt and have been for years

That’s probably right. I view Elon Musk as a brilliant huckster, a high-tech version of Dr. Evil.

I have mixed feelings...
SpaceX is breaking new ground and providing a fantastic service globally
Tesla is the company that put the world on the right track regarding the proper direction of cars
but they will eventually be subsumed and made irrelevant by the giants of the global automotive collective

But they deserve credit for kicking down the door and finally proving the concept is legit

Affordable Teslas for the unwashed masses!

PSYCHE!!
Tesla kills base $35,000 Model 3, increases prices, makes Autopilot standard

VW and Ford are going to clean Tesla's clock once they start cranking $30K electric Golfs and Focii out of their presses.

Tesla should be OK though. They can probably become a battery supplier to one of the real car companies.

Selling emissions credits is a big business for Tesla.

Tesla has made over $1 billion in the last three years by selling emissions credits in the United States, according to its annual report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Regulations allow a manufacturer of zero-emission vehicles to earn credits and sell excess credits to other manufacturers.

The credits in the past have buoyed the Palo Alto, California company’s earnings, allowing it to post quarterly profits when otherwise it would have posted a loss.

Earth to Tesla: Elon Musk Has Few Ideas Beyond Begging for Government Money
With SpaceX, as with Tesla, Musk’s desire for government aid blinds him to the reality of the competitive marketplace, and his businesses are worse off for it.

With some of its government incentives now expiring, Tesla must recognize that it desperately needs a course correction. Serious, systemic, lasting changes to the corporation’s business strategy must be made. Perhaps, Elon Musk, with his stubborn demeanor and aversion to change, isn’t right individual to make them. In March, esteemed NYU professor Scott Galloway predicted that Tesla would be acquired within a year. It may very well be that this prediction soon becomes prophesy.

2 fatal crashes this week where Tesla’s killed 3:
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating the crash of a speeding Tesla that killed two people in a Los Angeles suburb, the agency announced Tuesday.

Agency spokesman Sean Rushton wouldn’t say whether the Tesla Model S was on Autopilot when it crashed on Dec. 29 in Gardena. That system is designed to automatically change lanes and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.

The black Tesla had left a freeway and was moving at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light and slammed into a Honda Civic at an intersection, police said.

A man and woman in the Civic died at the scene.
Another Tesla crash killed a woman Sunday in Indiana. State police said the driver, Derrick N. Monet, 25, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, was seriously injured after he rear-ended a fire truck parked along Interstate 70 in Putnam County. His wife, Jenna N. Monet, 23, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Derrick Monet told investigators he regularly uses his Tesla's Autopilot mode, but didn't recall whether he had it activated at the time of the accident, state police Sgt. Matt Ames said.

Earlier this month, a Tesla struck a police cruiser and a disabled vehicle in Connecticut but nobody was seriously hurt. The driver told state police that he was using the Autopilot system and had looked around to check on his dog in the back seat.

You replied to my post that had an article that implied the driver was in the front seat. Why didn't you post something from the local coverage that stated he was in the back seat, as none of the rest of us had probably seen it.
