WAFJ. How do you think Eisenhower would feel about what the military industrial complex has become?

Let's ask Washington and Jefferson what they would think about over expanded military presence overseas shall we?

I liked the part where he suggested we watch more History Channel.

The country would be far better if more people watched their Ancient Aliens special.

Most idiotic part was when he blathered about "if the Democratic leaders today were in Congress during WWII, we'd be speaking German"

Bullshit.

WWII was a total war - we were attacked by another country, and the country was 100% behind the war effort, like we were when Afganistan is invaded.

People that believe crap like that don't understand the issues or realities of what is going on in the world.

I wouldn't say 100 percent, there was a lot of anti-war sentiment prior to Germany invading the Soviet Union, and the Japanese bombing Peal Harbor.

His point was once we were attacked, the country was behind it. Congress voted almost unanimously to declare war.

That we aren't a country full of pussies like the video suggests, but most of us don't like sending our soldiers to die unless it's for a very, very good reason; chicken hawks being the exception to that.

That's a good point, and I understand Jon's point, but just wanted to point out that there was dissent.

Jon's point is that THERE WERE DEMOCRATS IN CHARGE DURING WWII. After being attacked this country shook off the foolish ideology of isolationism and whipped the shit out of global fascism.

We could have done the same thing after 9/11 with Afghanistan... but instead we went off on the Iraq misadventure citing 9/11 (which Iraq had nothing to do with)... we took our eye off the ball sadly.

If Patton were alive today he would still be a brilliant millitary strategist who still wouldn't know shit about geo-politics, or domestic politics for that matter.

To answer the subject line of your thread title......

If Patton were alive today, he'd be a glory-hound jackass who sits in as a guest host on "The View" from time-to-time.....

Thus, you were saying volumes, Captain America.
