Tough day for the Donks.

Post by Baldy »

1. Pot legalization fails in Ohio.
2. Donks lose seats in the Virginia state house.
3. San Francisco's Sanctuary Sheriff gets booted.
4. Conks take over the governor's office in Kentucky.
5. A black female Tea Partier wins the Lt. Governor's race in Kentucky as well.

The Democratic Party has become the party of big business AND big government.

Nice positioning.

(Come to think of it...they've become Republicans! )

About all the local Donks can point to is their success in sweeping the three open PA Supreme Court seats. I've always thought that judicial elections were unseemly -- these clowns spent almost $16 million among them -- but this year's commercials take the cake. None of the "dese, dem and doze" Donk candidates should be on any bench, anywhere.

Eh, PA Supreme Court is a bit of a joke (well, a lot of Pennsylvania politcs is as well, so no significant difference there). I wasn't sure why there was such a big focus on it really anyway, not sure what really will be affected.

Donks have always been the party of Big Gubbermint. There is no doubt they have positioned themselves to be the party of big business as well.
Almost all of the big businesses are and have mostly been Donk controlled. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon...all the way into Big Healthcare, Big Media - Viacom, Comcast, Disney, CBS, Universal, etc.

Though Conks have been bought before, they have never really been the party of Big Business. Conks have mostly always been the party of small business and entrepreneurs.

I think I heard this morning that 122 of 122 incumbents won in the Virginia General Assembly. So much for people being fed up with the status quo.

It's no "eh-ing matter." :bad: A state Supreme Court is the final arbiter of disputes relating directly to the enforceability of important state laws and regulations. When a governor or a legislature has an "agenda," the importance should be obvious. If these new Donk justices are just going to carry water for Governor Wolf, and consider themselves an arm of a political branch of government, you could be in for a long four years. Judicial elections are :loko: .

The GOP has a stranglehold on both houses in the legislature in PA, though, and have been at loggerheads with Wolf already. I'm not sure how this tips the balance one way or not - I don't see the GOP control of the legislature ending anytime soon and Wolf may or may not be in office after the next election, depending who the GOP comes up with (they've had some real bad candidates for governor as of late). But yes, judicial elections, especially for something as high as the state supreme court, is pretty goofy.

It's on a small scale, but a few mayors and some city council people were voted out in local elections.
