Meh.

This is just the chickens coming home to roost for years of indulging "progressives".

They turn Maoist in their tactics. I'm surprised the list of demands from the MU students didn't include having the president wear a dunce hat and a sign reading "white privilege" while being paraded through campus by the Red Guards

Well there are lots of ways to win an argument...
and the less gracious the winner - and these students are fundamentally correct
but they are now stupidly over reaching and becoming what they hate

Which is always interesting to watch - Preachers do it all the time
Closet gay Republicans seem to do it almost quarterly
Its a ridiculous phenomenon and easy to spot

You're getting like Baldy. But, instead of parroting Rush Limbaugh as he does, you parrot Michael Savage. Heard him say the exact same thing yesterday.

Better pick up your game, CID. Consider yourself "outed", you toy soldier.

I agree with the OP.

One of the few things I agree with Trump on is the extent that political correctness is doing much more damage than good. Everyone's head is on a swivel waiting on someone to make a gaffe or say something marginally inappropriate and then jump on them like hyenas.

Some kids with no work experience living and being educated in some liberal bastion like most universities seem to have this civic duty to point out the wrong even if it means the end of a 30 year life's work for someone. Very few people can live up to making social commentary and not having it construed as something offensive by someone at some point in time. Rather than talking through it, they organize a protest and invite the media so they can put the offender's head on a pike and parade it out of town with their pitchforks and torches blazing.

Does anyone here think they could survive as a professor of history, political science, religion, or any social science courses for more than a couple of hours without stepping on someone's toe in today's environment?

My problem would be that I would want to step on EVERYONE's toes. Most of today's pussies can't take it, so they whine and cry and throw fits and protest. I am going to teach my kids to be stronger willed than that. They will be brought up to not give a shit what anyone else thinks while being respectful of others.

Rubin is a pretty good Donk for calling out the whacked out lunatic fringe on his side, but Donks like him are becoming more and more rare. If you don't toe the progressive line, they're going to make an example out of you.

I kinda like those crusty old farts...
I don't agree with them very often - except on a few key issues

My distrust and overall attitude about Islam is probably pretty closely aligned with CID's
and he sees it every damned day - I gotta go with his gut on that

Guns...
Baldy and I are in perfect alignment on Guns
I ask more annoying NRA questions and poke fun at GUN America
but I have no issues with they way we are - a gun happy culture - Yipee I don't care

and I agree with both of them (give or take 6 degrees of separation) on Hillary
but that's about where it ends

I haven't listened to Savage in 6-7 years- but i see he also notices the obvious

Maybe it is because the parallels are so exact between what these people are doing compared with the red guards of the cultural revolution

the analogy isn't exactly obscure

BTW, who's educated you and CID on the dangers of trigger warnings, microaggressions, and authoritarian campus culture?

Me, Dave Rubin, and Cleets.

"Progressive", "progressive", and "hippy".

You're welcome...
Interesting read on Microaggressions, vindictive protectiveness, the flight to safety, and an often appaling neo-political correctness that is making America stupider.
Read the article when you get a chance. Some issues require depth and I think this is one of those. There's a real threat to reason based thought coming mostly from the left and I believe ( ;) ) you and I might agree on this one.

There are very close parallels to student progressives and Maoists in their tactics and behavior

it doesn't mean they are going to take over the country (in fact I know they don't have the competence)

but they are making life extremely unfair to a LOT of kids who just want to have an enriching college experience. none of these protesters - not even the black ones - have experienced the injustice that they are protesting

the hunger striker is on scholarship for chrissakes

in fact, THAT'S the big difference between the real Maoists and these assholes - Maoists were starving peasants

Nice, but (as usual) you're a little late to the game.

Try reading a little history. The "progressive" left has been doing and inventing these types of things since Satan created "progressivism". :kisswink:

No shit?

Check what I said on the Missouri thread. That whole thing pisses me off to no end. I find it as ridiculous as the the fools in the Black Lives Matter movement.

And again, who posted the original article on microaggressions?

I've long recognized that the logical extension of BOTH political extremes leads to authoritarianism. Ideological purity and political correctness are dangerous things and you see a search for these on BOTH sides.

But right now, there's no organized "Progressive movement" as you seem to fear. The left leaning party in the United States is firmly in the hands of moderates.

And I'm just not as hung up on using the labels as you.

Signed,

Your favorite progressive.
