Russian strategic bombers could use Cuba airfields

MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- Russia expressed interest in using Cuban airfields during patrol missions of its strategic bombers, Russia's Interfax news agency reported

"There are four or five airfields in Cuba with 4,000-meter-long runways, which absolutely suit us," Maj. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev told Interfax.

Zhikharev, who is the chief of staff of the Russian Air Force's long-range aviation, said, "If the two chiefs of state display such a political will, we are ready to fly there."

Zhikharev also told Interfax that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has offered a military airfield on La Orchila island as a temporary base for Russian strategic bombers.

"If a relevant political decision is made, this is possible," he said, according to Interfax. Zhikharev said he visited La Orchila in 2008 and can confirm that with minor reconstruction, the airfield owned by a local naval base can accept fully-loaded Russian strategic bombers.

Nailed it. Think they would be trying this if the Mac attack was in office? Not likely.

First, Fvck the MAC Sac. He'd-a mewled like the old fvck that he is, but the result would have been the same. The Russians can use those airfields if they want and if the Cubans agree. Then, again, The Ancient One mighta been so aggressive with Russia (giving erections to Conks everywhere), that they would now be buzzing Washington as a matter of routine, taunting our piss poor defense forces, for whom nobody any longer has any respect.

All these sh*tty relations with the world, Gomer? You can thank your friends, Dubya, Rummy and Cheney, you old dork. And, another thing, Captain America, this is just another of early phenomena leading to the downfall of America, whether your grizzled up, Bo Gritz-lookin' ass believes it or not. Take Russian at the adult learning center there in Pigs Ass, SC, and learn to live with our decline. Fighting it is futile and people like you have hurt rather than helped the situation.

End that embargo and we won't be having this discussion much longer.

What a fool. The military certainly did you good.

Playing devil's advocate ...

How is Russian use of Cuban and/or Venezuelan airbases different than our use of Manas?

because that doesn't matter in the Conk wet dream of a new cold war so they'd have some sort of agenda again.

get real about this crap... if mccain was in charge what would the difference be? the only option is that a mentally unstable guy would got off half cocked and do something really f'ing stupid. (by the way... yes... he IS unstable... my colleagues who work in DC say his meltdowns and outbursts for no reason are legend)

but again... i love the conk predisposition to bomb anyone doesn't do exactly what we want in the world like we run the f'ing place, and anyone who advocates finding any other solution is pvssy... get real.

fact is - UNI88 is right... it's not really different at all. It's a provocation, to be sure... but so is our effort to get Ukraine in to NATO.

What I think does not have to be a fact Jon, you know that. I base it on McCains history of dealing with the Ruskies and what I think they would try and what they would not with him in office instead of the Messiah.

As far as you can back up that it WOULDN'T be the case with something other than hyperbole.

The biggest mistake people can make is conflating Putin's tinpot dictatorship of a petro-state to the Soviet Empire. they are two totally different animals.

I think a pretty convincing argument could be made that regardless of who was President that the Russians would have their panties in a bunch over Ukraine, a European missle defense systems, etc. and that the U.S. military would be overextended. This situation almost invites the Russians to posture and poke.

the monroe doctrine isn't a law... and even if it was in the US... it wouldn't really be binding anywhere else...

and it's been misapplied for years as a way of saying "america rules the western hemisphere" when what it was saying was "we stand ideologically opposed to colonization". there is a gigantic gulf of difference between the two.

and again... i go back to things like Ukraine and backing out of ABM... this isn't surprising.

That is likely to be an even bigger farce than the first one.

Need Mel Brooks to take up this cause, AZGriz, BUCDAD, and T-Man break out of a Catholic assisted living facility with the aid of several right leaning nurse/nuns to take on the invading commie wetbacks, and other coloreds who unbeknown to all but them, conspire to overthrow the United States and place it in the hands of Chavez, Putin, Manuel Noriega, and dozens of recently released ultra-terrorists from Guantanamo Bay. After making short work (of course) of the invaders, this inquisitive trio of pseudo-seniors, with the help of Jack Bauer conduct an investigation and successfully link the heinous plot to none other than President Barack Obama, and in the process uncover his true nation of descent as well as his true but heretofore unrevealed religion.

Peace is finally restored, and the new national heroes are awarded the Congressional Medal Of Honor, and Ronald Reagan Jr. is installed as the new President of the New Order, and Dick Cheney's lickety-split daughter is installed as the new Vice President of the New Order who immediately set about the task of rebuilding all the relocation centers that were used for Japanese-Americans during WWII for the purpose of re-educating non colored dissidents who have yet to fully embrace the New Order.
