I was listening to an interview on NPRs, Planet Money, with a man that escaped from and ISIS held town in Syria. Also, budget from January is smuggled out. In it, it shows that ISIS' budget is all in US Dollars. It pays it's fighters in US dollars and the fighters love buying Western products and cars. He said his town was full of brand new Hummers, Chargers, Mustangs, Western music and the biggest...BIGGEST seller in the market place was Twix candy bars.

It's a good story to listen to.

I get it, the US dollar is stronger than the Syrian pound(?) but c'mon. You have principles and are murdering for them.

But economically, you have to go with the currency of the world aka the currency of your enemy.

A lot of it is oil, but they are having a difficult time selling it, even on the black market.

Not surprising. It's a little ironic. Don't you think?

I think ISIS is spending millions, and lots of those millions, on their toys.

That's a little above your budget, I'd guess.

the beauty is that all those pallets of cash that went missing in Iraq are coming back home. Now if we can get the Syrians to switch to US weapons we'll be making serious bank. :thumb:

Yeah I never bought into this "ISIS threat". Sorry, Islam has had radical elements for centuries and is nothing new. Blaming/tying recent Islamic terrorist events to ISIS means nothing to me. It's all just a dog and pony show to get the American public to buy into supporting a land war in Syria. You can't bomb away an ideology...but we learned that in Vietnam (among other debacles) so of course we aren't stupid enough to make that mistake again. :ohno:

I do like that irony too...kinda like railing against gun violence at home then funding arms for "moderate" rebels abroad. Irony.
