A thought occurred to me this morning as I was reading the latest unemployment figures (242k new jobs, 4.9% unemployment rate). In the past, when such wonderful economic news was released by the Obama administration, the CS usual suspects like AnalJelly and a few other would post the figures on this site as irrefutable proof that Obama Jesus was making everything OK in America again.

Now, they don't even try. It's all bullshit and they know it.

So have the official Department of Labor statistics always been bullshit, or just since a liberal darkie took office?

Well, let me put it this way. The DoL calculates the unemployment rate in such a way that if nobody in the U.S. had a job and nobody was receiving unemployment benefits, the unemployment rate would be 0.0%.

There was not a peep about the calculations from conks when we were losing 800,000 jobs a month in the winter of 08 and 09.

This. Obama has simply restored us to pre-recession level employment, but how do the wages compare and are these economically sustainable jobs or are they ripe for export? Remember, Obama supported the TPP which, despite Gannnonfan's suggestions, doesn't appear to be a real job creator, domestically.

We're a service economy that depends on those with money to throw it away on places like McDonalds and Starbucks to keep everyone employed. Good luck with that America.
