Does Cruz want to turn the USA into a Theocracy?

I don't know how legit this site is (or the information for that matter) but given the religious rhetoric of people like him, I think the question is valid.

http://eastorlandopost.com/ted-cruz-closet-pentecostal
While Ted Cruz proudly proclaims he is an Evangelical Christian, his campaign takes pains to hide the truth that Cruz and his pastor father, Rafael Cruz are Pentecostal Christians
The government is being shut down so that God’s bankers can bring Jesus back. In an editorial published in the Washington Post on Feb. 4, on the heels of Cruz’s victory in the Iowa GOP primary, John Fea of the Religion News Service published an op-ed piece noting the frequent references Ted Cruz makes in stump speeches to his father “the traveling evangelist” Rafael Cruz. “During a 2012 sermon at the New Beginnings Church in Bedford, Texas, Rafael Cruz described his son’s political campaign as a direct fulfillment of biblical prophecy,” Fea wrote. “The elder Cruz told the congregation God would anoint Christian ‘kings’ to preside over an ‘end-time transfer of wealth’ from the wicked to the righteous. After this sermon, Larry Huch, the pastor of New Beginnings, claimed Cruz’s recent election to the U.S. Senate was a sign he was one of these kings.

Transfer of wealth? Sounds like socialism to me. :suspicious:

Is it me or are there others who, at first reading, don't know the difference between an Evangelical Christian and a Pentecostal Christian? Why not say Protestant? ;)

B/c usually you say Protestant for non-Catholic Christian. But I guess you can count Catholics as Evangelical. :twocents: I'm guessing I don't know.

I have no clue what the difference between all the sects within Protestantism. Don't really care to either. Whatever. I just know, some/most can be quite annoying at times, until you tell them you are a happy practicing Catholic. They all seem to walk away at that point. Or it might be my annoyed angry face mugging. Not sure.

More like a mix of a plutocracy and a kleptocracy. You know those Wall Street fat cats are going to have their way. They've publicaly bought a candidate and HRC will do everything her puppet masters tell her. And her puppets (dback) will follow her into the abyss, smiling and saying "But Bush" or some other anti-Clinton slogan that eludes or pontificates on her history of being a liar and an awful public servant.

Does it matter?

I only ask because it isn't possible - this thread might as well be titled "Does Ted Cruz Want To Move The United States To Antarctica?"

It's posts like these that make me occasionally think you might be too smart for your own good. Or high.

You're entitled to your opinion (no matter how wrong or cute it is), but please explain to me how in the hell Cruz (your words) is going to turn the south into some sort of theocracy? :?

I don't really care about anyone else, but Cruz finished 3rd in Georgia. I'm just dying to know how the guy who finished 3rd in the Conk primary in GA is going to turn the "bulk" of the south into "Iran West". :silly:

Holds just as much weight as those who claim that Trump is Adolf Hitler incarnate and is going to single handedly turn the US into a fascist state.

Bernie Sanders is Olof Palme incarnate...or worse yet...FDR. I mean sure it would take 60 years for his vicious ideology to take things down but it would. Unless Reagan incarnate comes along to save us again.

Obviously you're convinced, but repeating yourself doesn't make it true.

Nice observation from 3,000 miles away, but I've been around these Churchers forever. I remember daily devotionals from the bible being read over the intercom (this was back in the 80's). Do you think that still happens? :? I remember capital punishment (you know, spare the rod...). Do you think that still happens? :?

By all means, please entertain us some more with your vast knowledge of the fundamentalist takeover of the south.

The answer to the thread title question is "no." Ted Cruz is a strict Constitutional Originalist.
