The Unjustified Smugness of Liberals

This is a long article:
http://www.vox.com/2016/4/21/11451378/s ... liberalism
I must admit that I looked it up because of just one thing the author, who was reported to be a liberal, reportedly wrote. I was listening to Buck Sexton on the radio as he described it. Looked it up and here is the part I was looking for:
Nothing is more confounding to the smug style than the fact that the average Republican is better educated and has a higher IQ than the average Democrat.
After looking up the article In saw this one as well:
Most damning, perhaps, to the fancy liberal self-conception: Republicans score higher in susceptibility to persuasion. They are willing to change their minds more often.
More stuff in there that is consistent with what I've always interpreted exit polling to suggest: The Democratic Party is the one that benefits most, by far, from voting among the least educated and informed. Republican voters are probably characterized by a higher average IQ than Democratic voters. There is some suggestion that Democrats have an edge among the highest IQ group...maybe the top 15 percent or sure...but there is some question about that as well. No question that the "ignorant voters" factor favors the Democrats.
And I say that in spite of what's going on with Trump right now.

Let's not forget that 40% of the voting population are Independents, which is larger collectively than either major political party. Not all Liberals are Democrats and not all conservatives are Republicans. I'd be interested in seeing what that demographic looks like comparatively.

I don't know if 40% is quite accurate. The 2012 Presidential election exit poll estimates are that 38% of voters were Democrats, 32% were Republicans, and 29% were independents. But you're right in that we don't have Exit polling to tell us too much about the details of "Liberals" and "Conservatives." We do know that, for instance, in 2012 an estimated 86% of Liberals voted for Obama and an estimated 82% of Conservatives voted for Romney. But when it comes to looking at stuff like how people at various income levels, at various education levels, within various racial groups, etc., voted all we have is whether they voted for the Democrat or the Republican.

It's been trending that way for a while. According to Gallup, 42% this year, and 43% in 2015.

I don't have to. Vox keeps it simple so their readership can follow along without having to call Mom.

Only met him a couple of times...and once was in a Plubix while him and his brother were buying beer, but I know several people who know him very well, and he is a one hell of a down to earth nice guy. Married his high school sweetheart, his kids went to public school, etc.

I still remember after 15+ years because I thought it was quite pedestrian for Davis Love III to be in a Publix buying two cases of Bud Light.
I guess there is a difference between being a golf snob and a beer snob. Amirite, kalm?
