Pastor who claimed Whole Foods cake had homophobic slur drops suit
The Texas pastor who claimed a cake he bought from Whole Foods in Austin had a homophobic slur written on it announced Monday he is dropping his lawsuit against the company, CBS affiliate KEYE reported.
Pastor Jordan Brown released a statement Monday apologizing and saying, "the company did nothing wrong."
"I was wrong to pursue this matter and use the media to perpetuate this story. I want to apologize to Whole Foods and its team members for questioning the company's commitment to its values, and especially the bakery associate who I understand was put in a terrible position because of my actions," the statement read. "I apologize to the LGBT community for diverting attention from real issues. I also want to apologize to my partner, my family, my church family, and my attorney."

I read in another article that Whole Foods reported that the cake decorator who decorated the cake was herself a member of the LBGT community.

I was talking to a friend who's gay, and what makes him mad is that stories like this paint a poor picture of the LBGT community. He also cited the case in Oregon where a gay couple who won a court case against a cake shop for refusing to do their cake on religious grounds. His opinion.... It's OK to flame them in social media, use word of mouth to convince others not to patronize heir business, hold protests at their location, but don't take them to court and take their livlihood.
This, and we both agree on this, justifies the MYTH that the LBGT community is nothing but a bunch of thin-skinned, mean-spirited, vindictive, self-righteous misfits who don't want equal protection under the law, instead, they want to have laws that give them special protection under the law.
