Fox News Having Highest-Rated Year Ever

Fox News Channel first hit the air on October 7, 1996, and this is looking like it might be the best birthday year yet for the cable news network.

With unprecedented interest in Presidential politics pumping up the numbers by double digits, the nearly 20-year old Fox News is currently in the No. 1 primetime spot for all of cable with 2.2 million viewers. For its most-watched year ever so far, that’s a jump from the No. 5 spot it held at this point in 2015. Now, all cable news nets see a rise in election years, but for Fox News the result is a little sweeter. The Roger Ailes-run channel is second in all of cable primetime for Q2 2016 behind the NBA playoffs-fueled TNT. The latter averaged 2.05 million viewers to FNC’s 1.97 million for the quarter.

That second spot marks a 23% total viewership gain from the same period last year. It also sees the again-dominant Fox News get a 17% rise in the 25-54 demo (352,000) compared with Q2 2015. In overall prime viewership, Fox News was in third place.

The field is ripe for plowing for Gary Johnson, but to be honest he just comes off as kind of limp and unexciting. I really wish the guy was more charismatic because his platform is far and away better than anything Hillary or Trump can offer.

A lot of people think that the Libertarian Party polling at over 10% is some kind of huge deal. In reality, I think the fact that the Lib Party isn't polling at 20% is a testament to how poorly they campaign and get their message out. Seriously, NAMBLA could start a political party and poll at 20% given the two clowns being touted by the establishment parties.

I agree. The only problem with the Libertarians is either you get someone unexciting or you get someone that sounds crazier than Trump

I understand the LP polling at 10%, but Jill Stein at 6%? Is she already getting Bernie's hard-core leftovers? I haven't seen any Green Party ads or interviews anywhere.

Anecdotal, bit yes, I know more than a few Bernie Supporters that are supporting Stein.

That could be a significant trend if true, Bernie won a significant number of states and votes.

My brother is a big "L" libertarian and he says a fair number of Libertarians aren't happy about Bill Weld being the VP nominee and there are others that are upset about the Libertarian Party kissing Muslin ass as they've been doing lately. He says that is hurting their numbers.

Oh I have been watching and am well aware of the Quinnipiac poll results. It's a poll rated fairly highly by 538. A- grade.

Sure, I would rather see Clinton up by like 20 points in all the polls. That would be a far more positive statement about the condition of the US electorate. The fact that Trump is a serious contender should make any rational person concerned about the quality of the US electorate right now.

No way this guy should be seriously contending for President. It's ridiculous. The fact that we have a US electorate that would seriously entertain the thought of this guy as President of the United States would be comical if it weren't so serious.

First of all, there are different polls. The ABC News/Washington Post poll, which is rated A+, has Clinton getting 90 percent support among Democrats vs. Trump getting 77 percent support among Republicans.

And you don't have the kind of thing for Clinton where you have high profile Democrats just absolutely rejecting her like you have high profile Republicans just absolutely rejecting Trump. Just not there.

There is no reasonable question that Trump has a bigger problem with Republicans than Hillary has with Democrats right now. Even the poll results you cite are consistent with that. In those results Clinton is +86 percentage points among Democrats while Trump is +78 percentage points among Republicans.

I don't have any doubt that the majority of Republicans will vote for Trump in the general election. But that does not mean that he majority of Republicans wouldn't REALLY rather have somebody else running as a the Republican nominee. And if it's not a majority who would REALLY rather have someone else representing their Party it's close.

Yeah, big military reduction (maybe not quite 50%). Out of Europe- would be nice to see the Europeans get scareed shitless at all of a sudden having to pay for their own defense, which they have't had to do since 1941. But also if in exchange for out of the mid east allow drilling ANWR, off both coasts, other non nat park public lands. But the libs will never let that happen.

Those "high profile" Republicans are members of the currently very unpopular elite establishment. Some of them rejecting Trump helps him as much as it hurts..
