More spending and more taxes works just as well as tax cuts and reduced spending. Someone should teach Congress the concept of equilibrium.Chizzang wrote:MORE TAXES...!!!

And you won't the elderly to die impoverished because they didn't invest as good as you right?JohnStOnge wrote:The reason to hate Social Security is that it is a Ponzi Scheme that cannot be sustained. It's wrong.
It's wrong to compel people to participate in a program for ensuring their retirement. It's wrong to FORCE the young to take care of the old. Social Security is just wrong on every level. It should never have been established and it is a millstone around the American neck in the long term.

You have it backwards.Col Hogan wrote:First, Wall Street is in Hillary's pocket...
What about personal responsibility? Are you opposed to that?
Remember when Wall Street took personal responsibility for the Great Recession?houndawg wrote:You have it backwards.Col Hogan wrote:First, Wall Street is in Hillary's pocket...

You don't think you could have taken the 12.4% you were paying (6.2% employer, 6.2% employee, 12.4% if self employed) and done a better job investing it than the govt (where the return is 0% above inflation)?? Wow, such a low opinion of yourself..houndawg wrote:The amount of **** you're full of is absolutely breathtaking.JohnStOnge wrote:The reason to hate Social Security is that it is a Ponzi Scheme that cannot be sustained. I turned 62 this month and I couldn't be happier that I was forced to participate. Thank you too John. For your continuing subsidization of my lifestyle.

I KNOW if I got to invest MY 12.4% as I saw saw fit I would have exponentionally more upon retirement. And anyone else with above avg IQ could do the same..![]()
It comes down to a matter of confidence. Democrats tend to think people aren't smart enough to manage their own investments and need government assistance in order to save for retirement. This belief couldn't be more wrong. With today's age based mutual funds and ETFs and Morningstar and other services to help evaluate their past results it is very easy to invest retirement and other funds.TheDancinMonarch wrote:When I began my working career in 1962 with a part time job as a senior in high school the DJIA was 724.71. When I hit retirement age in 2010 the DJIA was at 10,012.23. Since then the DJIA has gone to over 18,000. Why wouldn't I have wanted my money in the market vice Social Security? And if something dire had happened to me my family would have kept the money in the fund vice the SS $255 death "benefit" and condolences. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
Totally agree with what you posted...TheDancinMonarch wrote:When I began my working career in 1962 with a part time job as a senior in high school the DJIA was 724.71.
