Unfair?

Post by kalm »

So the DNC uses this poor family as a political chess piece and Trump doubles down. :ohno:

Beyond the pale or a valid question for the "religion of peace"?

Donald Trump responded to the moving speeches of the father of an American hero at the Democratic National Convention by questioning why his wife stood at his side but did not speak.

The remarks were clearly intended to question whether the couple’s Islamic faith precluded her from speaking so publicly.

Khizr Khan, whose son, Army Capt. Humayun S.M. Khan was killed in Iraq in 2004, gave one of the most stirring speeches of the convention when he questioned what sacrifices Trump had made for his country. Khan’s wife, Ghazala, appeared beside him at the lectern but did not speak.

I mentioned this in the Trump vs. Clinton thread already.
Trump should not have commented about Mr. and Mr. Khan.

At the end of the article"
"Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S."

Trump was personally attacked by Mr. Khan at the DNC as the parents were using their fallen son as a political pawn. Trump responded with praise for the fallen son, and then,
"If you look at his wife, she was standing there, she had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say. You tell me."

Perfectly reasonable I think given Islam's treatment of women..

Trump probably shouldn't have said anything, but he intentionally put himself and his subservient wife on the political stage. If he takes a few shots because of it, it's his own fault.

After that speech, Mr. Khan became a public figure, so he opened himself up to criticism. Don't walk in the kitchen if you can't stand the heat.

I think your timeline is a little off. The praise for the son came late yesterday, from what I gather. After the other comments. Might be wrong though.

As far as whether he is justified in his comments, I guess he can say anything he wants. Sometimes it is best to not respond though.

The more Trump speaks and defends himself the more I want him to win.

I love his juvenile behavior, the way he lashes out and attacks. Its what this country needs even though most people are too fu*king stupid to realize it. He has balls and will fight for our country, I get the feeling that since he isnt a politician he is telling the truth and lets face it people.......voters want to be lied to.

It would be nice to shove it straight up the elite asses up people like Romney, Clinton and Cleets.

There is a new cowboy/sheriff in town and his name is "The Donald". I just want their heads to explode for 8 years the same way we have had to deal with the muslim POS traitor whos on vacation or golfing right now.

Biggest thing I noted about this exchange is that Trump once again showed emotional immaturity. He's a Presidential candidate and he gets in an interview and he feels compelled to take shots. Like bringing up the mother when that's not even what the conversation is about. And saying someone with the HIllary campaign probably wrote the speech for the Father. He was, as he often does, responding like a middle school kid would.

Then there's Jeff Sessions, who I saw on TV this morning defending him. At some point these people need to start worrying about their long term credibility instead of trying to come up with ridiculous statements to defend Trump's nonsense. Sessions actually sat there with a straight face and said he read the transcript and Trump didn't say anything disrespectful of the parents.

It's another one of those "don't believe your lying eyes (and ears) things."

It's fine if people want to question having parents in that situation become involved. I saw someone on one of the shows who I think is very sympathetic to the Democrats question doing that. And I understand the concern. But both sides do it. Like the Republicans having the mother of one of the guys that got killed in the Benghazi thing speak at their convention.

But if you're a 70 year old man running for President you don't respond to questions about it like a 12 year old would.

The only republican president I have voted for in my life was GWB the first time against Gore. I am a conservative and the GOP doesnt represent me so I have to look elsewhere.

Fixed it. And it remains the case that if one is looking for emotional maturity supporting Trump makes absolutely no sense. Actually supporting Trump makes absolutely no sense regardless.

Now Mr. Khan is being paraded around the news stations, continuing to attack Trump but also defend Islam, claiming that all these terrorist attacks have nothing to do with it.

Someone should remind him that these same radical Islamists are the ones who killed his son, not Trump :coffee:

Liberals are quick to refer to any black man who supports the GOP as an "Uncle Tom", but they love the fact that "Brother Ahmed" over here is a military parent who is a devout Muslim. I wonder how strong his son's beliefs were, and how his father really felt about him fighting for the "Great Satan" in the Middle East?
