in his new $600,000 lake house.
Bernie Sanders Buys $600K Lakefront Summer House in Vermont
Bernie Sanders, the socialist who challenged Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary, is dropping fat cash on a hot new lakefront pad.
The income inequality expert reportedly bought a $600,000 “camp” on the Champlain Islands in Vermont last week, which he plans to use as a seasonal getaway locale.
Bernie’s new crib has four bedrooms and 500 feet of beautiful shorefront access on the banks of Lake Champlain. Sanders and his wife plan to keep their home in nearby Burlington, as well as their fashionable rowhouse on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Bernie should fit right in as a member of the Champlain Islands community. There is a general store down the road from his new digs, for example, that serves a turkey sandwich called “Feel the Bun” in his honor. It features a “HUGE” roll, because Bernie says the word “huge” a lot. Also, provolone cheese.
“It’s not fair that the Billionaire Class controls 99 percent of the bread,” reads the sandwich’s description on the menu. “Here’s a sandwich for the rest of us … to keep us nourished until everything cool is free!”
Sanders’ wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders, said the whole family is excited about the new purchase. O’Meara Sanders is the former president of Burlington College, which was forced to close due to the “crushing weight of the debt” incurred under her leadership.
Bernie Sanders is already being mocked on Twitter for buying a fancy home despite spending his whole career railing against rich people and their fancy things.
How ironical.

Nah, Bernie just sold out like any other politician. I noticed he didn't have any problem scheduling a campaign stop in NYC and just at the same time accepting either dirt cheap or free seats to watch the "Hamilton" musical from some of the best seats in the house for his date night.

Yeah, for my third home, which he's calling a "camp" btw, I basically have a pup tent that fits three comfortably. I should've gotten into politics, the perks are much better.

Of course me and the girlfriend last year purchased a house in Palm Springs
So technically this house we're buying here is a second home - but that is not the point
$600K is what your average senator spends on his boat
not including his Jet and his 3 houses
I'm not biting

Depends on where you live. Where I live a $600,000 house is a very nice house. Here's a map depicting median new house prices by State:

$600k can get you a pretty sweet house on water in the Carolinas. I've appraised homes for $500k that were fancy. It's all where you are.
You ignorant bastard.

So you can't be successful while championing a level playing field and
better standard of living for the middle class and working poor?
FDR was a fraud!

Isn't the question again how a career politician can afford three homes. Especially one that rails against the rigged system. Maybe he inherited it. Maybe his wife makes a butt load of money. Maybe Bernie sucks just like the rest of them. I don't know do you?

FDR inherited his money which is fine. Maybe Bernie did too. Just curious how he got it.

I think he's bat-sh!t crazy frankly...
But buying a $600K house in my opinion qualifies him as middle class
and is financially - far under - what your average presidential nominee is buying
I would guess around $5 to 10 Million under the average

Maybe but not the point. We know the clintons are the epitome of making money off politics . Where did Bernie get his. I guess 175k a year could get you three homes.
Btw the way thinking owning three homes the last of which cost 600.000 is middle class says you have no clue-:$

I don't know either. Maybe his wife has some too. Regardless, my first reaction isn't suspicion or wealth envy.

Actually it isn't mine either. I do find it slightly funny though when some one has the political positions that Bernie has where we should tax wealth (a lot) to help those that need it that you wouldn't consider just having two homes and making a size able donation somewhere. I mean if you think it is ok to take from others why not do the right thing yourself?

Sure. Again I don't know how much he gives to charity already and I don't know what the appropriate amount is.
I also don't look at taxes as charitable giving. And I don't check to see if my friends are paying their fair share or are giving enough. I want reasonable tax rates that cover the cost of America for everyone but...Kalm.
I deserve better because I'm me!
