I'm guessing not. Most career military men don't think much of career politicians.GannonFan wrote:Powell didn't seem to care for anyone - thought the Cheney's were idiots (although the quote is in reference to their efforts to market a book they wrote), he clearly didn't like Trump, and he thought Hillary was a overly secretive conniver. I wonder if Powell liked anyone in politics.

So will Obummer include Snowden in his growing list of "midnight pardons"? Will he be the Marc Rich of the Obama administration?Chizzang wrote:Ah...
The Right Wing love affair with Powell ended with an implosion long ago
But I remember the days when he was the darling
He's like Snowden for the Left
Remember when Snowden was a hero or a traitor
Now he's a Hero or a traitor again only shifted 180 degrees
Yup, Powell sure likes the limelight.Baldy wrote:...and Powell is both.AZGrizFan wrote:

It would be the right thing to do.Ivytalk wrote:So will Obummer include Snowden in his growing list of "midnight pardons"? Will he be the Marc Rich of the Obama administration?Chizzang wrote:Ah...

It never ended with me. I still like the guy. He brought a military management style to the State Department which it SORELY needed. He's still a hero here to liberals and conservatives (all 6 of us) alike.Chizzang wrote:Ah...

No, it wouldn't.kalm wrote:It would be the right thing to do.Ivytalk wrote:

And Chizzy's girlfriend announced this week that she's not only pardon Snowden, she'd also pardon Chelsea Manning and give them both positions in her administration.
I hope she includes Cindy Sheehan as well!kalm wrote:It would be the right thing to do.Ivytalk wrote:

He did us a service with the NSC metadata reveal and I'd be willing to have that used as a mitigating circumstance to knock a year or two off the life sentence he deserves for spamming megabytes worth of unrelated classified material

Yeah because "don't give secrets to our adversaries" was such an important rule only back thenkalm wrote:The 19teens called. They want their espionage laws back.CID1990 wrote:

+1 I still like him and the Clinton and Cheney comments only improve my opinion of him.CID1990 wrote:It never ended with me. I still like the guy. His opinions of people like the Clintons and the Cheneys comes as no surprise to me- I'd have guessed it without his hacked emails

hardly. He was a one-term politician. Just like it was originally intended.Baldy wrote:...and Powell is both.AZGrizFan wrote:

It ended with me when he was too stupid to see through the empty suit occupying the White House.Chizzang wrote:Ah...

I'm with CID on this one. The guy did far more harm than good. Let him rot in Moscow.CID1990 wrote:No, it wouldn't.kalm wrote:

You are either stupid or just intentionally ignoring what I have said for the sake of your meaningless argument.kalm wrote:Adversaries can be domestic too...government lover.CID1990 wrote:

also nuance...
Oh, for starters, Congressional testimony by General Dempsey (former chair of the Joint Chiefs) to the effect that the vast majority of the documents Snowden released had nothing to do with personal metadata and everything to do with highly sensitive military and intelligence-related information.kalm wrote:How do you know that?Ivytalk wrote: I'm with CID on this one. What's your source?
It couldn't possibly be the very same government he exposed. Oh wait, we can't tell you because it's classified. But trust us!
You'll have to pardon klam - he's stuck on a logical fallacy on this one and can't break out.Ivytalk wrote:Oh, for starters, Congressional testimony by General Dempsey (former chair of the Joint Chiefs) to the effect that the vast majority of the documents Snowden released had nothing to do with personal metadata and everything to do with highly sensitive military and intelligence-related information.kalm wrote:

But go ahead and stick with George Soros, Danny Glover, and Susan Sarandon! Your boy should be canonized!
According to you, the government, and the establishment media?CID1990 wrote:You are either stupid or just intentionally ignoring what I have said for the sake of your meaningless argument.kalm wrote:

Snowden, if not legally, is still a whistleblower when it comes to the domestic spying program. That should be a mitigating circumstance if he is ever brought to justice. But 99.9% of the docs he pilfered had nothing to do with domestic surveillance. So his sentence should have 0.01% knocked off of it.
