So that's it, the left loses their mind and the Trump Administration forgets about it? Sounds like bad government to me, bub.

It's still the gov't, yes. But the point is BDK is making excuses b/c someone else did it. Person X breaking the law isn't a reason for Person A to do so.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 9:19 amI agree with BDK, they are attacking the government. It might be at a local level but it is still the government.
For the most part, the crimes were local crimes and the justice system in Portland/Multnomah County is giving them preferential treatment like the courts used to give whites preferential treatment. It's outraged, faux-progressive privilege.

I've heard that excuse. It's so weak.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 9:17 am Black man caught on video repeatedly calls Asian cop a “fucking chink” , then when someone says that’s racist, says “Black people can’t be racist”.

Saying blacks can't be something is a bit racist itself, isn't it? Kind of, sort of?

We're on the same page. You have people trying to justify one over the other or argue that one was worse than the other. They were wrong period! They should be tracking down all of the rioters and throwing the book at them.Ibanez wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 9:37 amIt's still the gov't, yes. Which is worse and the motivations and causes seem to be your stumbling block.
Rioting, destruction of property, violence are wrong regardless. No one here is arguing with that.

You should add IMO in front of your first sentence. I'm trying to look at them objectively, without bias and don't see that as a stumbling block. I'm confident that they were both very bad and both were overreactions to real issues.

There were people, including on here, that were saying the feds in Portland were being to heavy handed with the rioters, and blaming the feds for the escalation.
And yeah, the Biden admin has forgotten about it..I wonder how many were charged Federaly before Jan 21st vs after.

I’m saying IMHOP that what happened in DC for a couple hours isn’t as bad as what happened dozens of cities for weeks and in Portland’s and Seattle’s cases, for months.
Saying one is bad, one is far worse, isn’t making excuses for the less bad one.

Why does it matter if it was a few hours vs a few day?
This is really a no brainer - they're both wrong and we don't need to worry about the degrees here. They're wrong. Case closed.

Re: Miscellaneous news items that don't warrant their own thread
You are making excuses. You're giving the MAGA crowd a pass for doing the same thing the Antifa/BLM crowd did by saying the Portland riots were worse. You're trying to establish a false equivalency.

You and Kalm are making the same arguments from opposite sides. He would say that the January 6 riot was worse because it was an attack on Congress, a more significant institution than a federal building in a city 3,000 miles from the Capital.
They were both bad, neither was less bad than the other.

yeah, because that's ALL that was going on in 1775. It was just about the taxes. That's it. Nothing else.

I know there was more to it on both sides and this whole "they were worse" pissing match is a distraction from the underlying issues that caused both.kalm wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 12:03 pmMore to it than just that and you know it.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 11:32 am
