Conscripts in Norway have been ordered to return their underwear, bras and socks after the end of their military service so that the next group of recruits can use them.

The Norwegian military said Monday that it is struggling with dwindling supplies, in part due to the pandemic.

I saw Harry Reid is joining the list of folks who have "lain in state" in the US Capitol building (which is still closed to the public, going on almost two years now, btw). He's only the 36th person to get to have this honor. The last 5 of which have happened since 2018. Like many things, we're diluting what used to be an honor for people who were extraordinary or truly historical figures to now, literally, almost any John, Dick, or, in this case, Harry.

Harry Reid is a POS and does not deserve to be lain in state. Hopefully a lot of people stop and piss on his grave.

I disagree. Reid is a national hero for invoking the nuclear option. He should be buried with honors.

Spencer Elden, who appeared as a naked baby on the cover of Nirvana's 1991 album "Nevermind," has claimed the record's iconic artwork is child pornography and is suing the band over alleged "child sexual exploitation."

The rock album's cover features Elden, then an infant, swimming underwater while undressed, his eyes fixated on a one dollar bill. It became one of the most enduring images in rock music after the record's release.
i'm pretty sure i've read an article about how brags about being on the album cover and even uses, " I bet you've seen me naked" as a pick up line. He's recreated the album several times and NOW he feels sexualized? :dunce:

His past comments might be his undoing
It is a weird thing to get my head around, being part of such a culturally iconic image. But it’s always been a positive thing and opened doors for me. I’m 23 now and an artist, and this story gave me an opportunity to work with Shepard Fairey for five years, which was an awesome experience. He is a huge music connoisseur: when he heard I was the Nirvana baby, he thought that was really cool.

It helps with girls, too. Sometimes girls chat me up about it more than the other way around. I don’t tell them it’s me, and my friends boast about it more than I do. I would never go up to anyone wearing a Nirvana T-shirt and say, “Hey, that’s me”, but I was once recognised on a bridge in Venice when I was there for the Biennale. An Italian guy stopped me and said, “You’re the Nirvana baby!” which I thought was the craziest thing. I don’t know how anyone would recognise me.

I might have one of the most famous penises in the music industry, but no one would ever know that to look at me. Sooner or later, I want to create a print of a real-deal re-enactment shot, completely naked. Why not? I think it would be fun.
https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesig ... -nevermind
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... wsuit.html
The nude baby on Nirvana's Nevermind album has filed a new $1.5million lawsuit claiming the iconic image is child pornography after a judge threw out his original case.

Spencer Elden, 30, had his initial claim dismissed by Federal Judge Fernando M. Olguin on January 4 after his lawyers missed a deadline, but was given permission to file an amended version.
Lawyers missed a deadline? This guy has no chance.
The band's lawyers argued after the initial lawsuit, first filed in August in federal court in California, that Elden has 'spent three decades profiting from his celebrity as the self-anointed 'Nirvana Baby'.'

Elden re-enacted the photo for money 'many times,' the lawyers said in a motion to dismiss the previous lawsuit in December, even had the album title tattooed across his chest, appeared on a talk show wearing a self-parodying nude-colored onesie and had 'used the connection to try to pick up women'.

Was reading an article in the Atlantic and it brought up a point that I had not thought about. It was dealing with Twitter and who generates the content.
According to the Pew Research Center, only 23 percent of U.S. adults use Twitter, and of those users, “the most active 25% … produced 97% of all tweets.” In other words, nearly all tweets come from less than 6 percent of American adults.
https://newsletters.theatlantic.com/dee ... ry-potter/

The above quote made me think a bit as I deal with some social media related content through work and have wound up talking with some of the Marketing people about brand growth and how they area reaching our target demographics. We spend a fair amount of capital on this out reach, but I never stopped to think about who is on Twitter. I mostly assumed (wrongly) that it would be around other social media user percentages. Which is why the above quote stuck me as interesting.

There are some other interesting thoughts in the Atlantic article about being surrounded by a "bubble" of our own making and the biggest example that I wind up dealing with is probably politics.

The PEW results from the article is linked below.

I find myself falling into the "bubble" trap time to time as well.

Being more aware of their own biases is something I wish more people had. Maybe we would not be so quick on the partisan finger pointing then.
