Do you see how many Cable Companies there are
Comcast and Time Warner

Back in the early 90's there were three dozen major players
all competing to provide the best product at the most competitive price and options

Do you want to know what's going to happen with "Craft Beer"
Take a few guesses remembering that this is America and favorable legislation can be purchased

I'll give Craft Been about 10 more years
Honest question...I get my cable from a company not named Comcast or Time Warner...and when I went to sign onto the Smithsonian app, there were lots of choices for providers...

So, why do you say there are only two???

Oh yeah... I forgot: Dilly Dilly
1) it's Spectrum, not Time Warner. Keep up, dilly dilly. 8-)
2) What about Verizon, AT&T, Cox, Charter, Suddenlink, Cable One, Comporium, Google Fiber, Earthlink, Hughesnet, Sprint or Charter (these are ISP, but it's quickly becoming all in one) (to name a few).

But you said cable so we have Comcast, Charter, Wow, AT&T, Dish Network, Verizon, Cox, Google Fiber, TPG, Windstream, etc... and those are the MAJOR companies. Regional companies, like Comporium (which is over 100 yrs old) have figured out how to survive. I'll give you a hint: favorable legislation. :thumb:

Comcast has 29 Million TV subscribers
Charter Time Warner has 17 Million TV subscribers

if you look at internet subscribers Comcast is over 30 Million and Charter TW is at 23 Million
The next closest is Verizon FIOS at 5 Million and the drop off is steep after that

Did you get those numbers at the same place that said Boeing SC is 2x as slow as Boeing WA? :suspicious:

https://broadbandnow.com/Cable-Providers

That's a list of 482 Cable providers.

We're talking about CABLE TV subscribers
Your chart proves my point (Reading comprehension is critical here)

Comcast
Charter TW
Verizon FIOS

Just like I said
Jeezus man...

and those aren't 2017 or 2018 numbers either (get with the program)

My chart of showing more than 2 cable providers proves your point that there are 2 companies? Isn't Pay-TV, cable? It's not streaming like Netflix (which isn't on that list.) If I misread that, then that's on me.

2018 Numbers don't exist yet. So valid point.

I couldn't find 2017 number that quickly and without having to pay $50. Again valid

I found this article from last spring (citing Comcasts earnings report)
Today the company announced it has 22.5 million TV subscribers
https://www.recode.net/2017/4/27/154138 ... rs-q1-2017

22.5m is less than 29M.

Oh, I forgot to add this to my post:

Regardless - Cable TV subscriptions are falling as people are cutting the cord and going to streaming and VOD services. Comcast isn't going to fall, that's for sure. But there are more than 2 companies.

I live in an area with only 1 Cable/ISP provider - and isn't Comcast or Specturm.

Good Lord...
You are something else man
If you don't understand what Cable TV is why are you arguing about it (Excluding TROLLING)

Even if we take the lowest numbers
There are effectively two Cable Companies

Satellite is not cable
Satellite companies don't control a publicly funded infrastructure that provides necessary services

For all intents and purposes for any reasonable conversation about our public broadband infrastructure
There are TWO cable companies

The rest of it is trivial debating of minutiae...

Really I was just fucking with you over the # of companies. To say there are two is nonsense. I'm well aware of hte difference between Cable and Broadband (as the chart I posted breaks them out)...the rest of that crap was b/c it triggers you so much. Someone says "Comcast" and your Google Alerts goes crazy. I understand your point of the sheer size but in reality, there are a few behemoth cable companies when stacked up against the other 475 (Comcast alone has more than the lower 475 companies).

This is a nice addition to the wall.

Now HERE'S a guy who knows how to party
A search of England’s car revealed, according to WVLT, “six grams of marijuana, 0.6 grams of cocaine, a pipe, rolling papers, a 3/4 empty bottle of Crown Royal, a small empty bottle of Crown Royal, and several cans used for ‘huffing.'”

A long-hidden photo of then-Illinois Sen. Barack Obama posing at a congressional caucus meeting with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan was revealed Thursday — roughly 13 years after it was taken.

The journalist who snapped the pair at a Congressional Black Caucus meeting in 2005, Askia Muhammad, told the Trice Edney News Wire that he “gave the picture up at the time and basically swore secrecy” out of concern that it could have “made a difference” and damaged Obama’s political future.

A California legislator is proposing a law that could put someone in jail for giving you a straw with your drink...
..., a waiter who serves a drink with an unrequested straw in it would face up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
